Spent many many nights in LA's it was ace, occasionally frequented the tower, although we refferred to it as 'Tower in a Hour' I.e. if you couldn't pull in an hour you were some sort of deformed cretin!

Loved the variance of peopl, all sorts and everyone all looking for the same thing.

LA's was also well placed for the Campanile, a cheap hotel for taking totty (yes also used that terminology) to, cheap as chips and very handy.

Also liked the kebab shop over the road back towards the cheese.

Pull the other one.L.A's was ****e. Tower was even ****er.
The best club in Hull in the 90's IMO was Room.
I also liked Silhouette and Spiders.

Stayed well away from the mainstream cheesy nonsense.

Spent too many nights in LA's, in fact my sixth form even used to hire it for party nights ;) They had to swear blind that everyone going was over 18 so that we could drink!

Scamps was the best night club in hull , as I could get in when I was 14 . Then at closing time it was on to the famous Gothenburg ' coffee' club till 6am in the days when every bar / club was closed by 2am.. You got some smashing girls in Gothenburg. ;)

Tokyo was due to open in September but it keeps hitting snags with the English herritage or whatever because it's a listed building. It's now due to open first quarter of the year. Should be hulls first decent gig venue, they had the pigeon detectives and the guillemots lined up before the delay. And it's not some crappy random club, it's a big chain with clubs in all the big citys.... I'm looking forward to it :)

Mate said he had tickets to see a gig at Tokyos but they hadn't finished doing it up.

Heaven & Hell is set to be a Hilton Hotel, so i read in the HDM.

Only been in Rhythm Room a few times, went in Boom Bar a few times. Anybody go in there?

Spiders is ****e. Full of emos with too much make up on (and that's the men), chains and moon boots and you can't dance to any of the music. Upstairs get's too crowded for my liking. Also it's got nowt to do with me being randomly picked out of the crowd for being too overdressed, ie awearing a non black jumper, and told to go home when all your mates got in :)

Fruit was quite good when i went last. Bit small but it'll be good to get a few more areas to go to in Hull gig wise.

I quite like Fruit, I did an event in there once and Dave who owns it is a City fan, he also owns Welly and his brother used to own the Tower(they both had the Room and the Blue Lamp, is the Lamp still open?).

Showing my age a bit but I used to go to Tower when it was a picture house - vague memories of queuing half-way down Anlaby Road to see "Help" with me Grandma......

I remenber Tower for an Hr very well! :)
I remember once me and my best mate pulled before we even managed to get drinks and within 20 mins was doing the deeds in the park under the bridge! lol

Used to go on a Monday night when i was on leave stripper night! you had some right dogs getting up to strip!

Used to come home most weekends in the 90's go to Heaven and Hell on a Friday what was it called before that?
LA's on a saturday night, they both used to have some good groups playing them days, mainly one hit wounders but it was all good!

    How i miss them days
I wounder how many kids i might have??? lol
Its funny how we talk about women that put it about as slags and the guys that do it are just been guys!!

Used to go to Oasis alot aswell think it was Tuesdays that was good plenty of BOGOF or £1 a bottle. never liked Waterfront once said i would burn it down as i got in a fight because of an gf at the time, 2 weeks later there was a fire! lol

Think i must of been in all the clubs at one point in the 90's same as all the pubs and bars in new town and old town! always seemed to know what area was going to be the best depending on the night and month!

But you could not beat a Bank Holiday Monday around Marina till there was that big fight and the cops then used to close the pubs for a few hrs!

Tower - LA's - Bali High - Romeo & Juliets all could be said to have been frequented with totty and dogs. Depends on your outlook and state of mind nevermind eyesight ?

LA's was good for the drug den at the back. No need to buy or sample just smell the air in there.

Great days but alas all now long gone.

Tickler , upstairs , Haworth arms on a weekend .. You'd be out of your head with the 'smoking' going on up there in the early 70s .. I use to go with Ray Harvey .. Think I was the only one in the place with a shaved head and a Harrington on...

I ran nightclubs for a number of years and I always wanted to manage LA'S and I was lucky enough to do this in the early 00's. It was only for 6 weeks pre christmas on a self employed basis until the new manager became available. The sad thing about this was the decline that was evident of the company that owned the club. I managed to stop the rot somewhat and redirect the club on the path to former glories but the company basically hired the wrong man for the job and ruined all the good work myself and the guy before had done. The company went bust a few months later which was no suprise to any in the industry. A perfect example of how to not run a company. A couple of Friend of mine looked at the venue to reopen after a refit but the the numbers did not add up. I loved my time there and is one of my altime favorite venues. I was offered the Tower two years before this and told them no chance. One of the few venues at the time in the country that was such a posioned chalis that it was beyond help.

There's a Tokyo here in York and I believe there is also one in Bradford and Huddersfield locally. Decent club, been in it plenty of times and it has managed to attract some decent acts to York (Black Eyed Peas, Nero, Katy B, Example to name a few) so it may well do the same for Hull.

I was in Boom Bar a few times, had a big room upstairs I remember. I used to quite like Pipers indie night a few years back with Priya, pretty sure that has finished now, another good night that cant be had anymore. The Room was good aswell even though it changed quite a few times over the years. Interesting thread this as it shows how much Hulls nightlife has changed in a short space of time, I'm not into clubbing anymore so have no idea what it's like nowadays, think my last night big night out was maybe three years ago at Welly which was still decent then.
