Any news yet on how much O'neill will be getting to spend yet? I know your managers are usually backed pretty well, interesting to see what he does with the money, just have to hope he doesn't bring Heskey in, because dear lord we'll all take the piss. ;)

We haven't seen to many links with any substance yet. Krancjar yet again, Pienaar, Samba. Don't thin there's anything in them but would love Samba. The man's a monster!

Oddly enough Bruce's net spend on transfer fees alone was only about £5m in his time at us because of the Bent and Henderson deals.

Hard to say, if Bent moves there'll be money from his sale to Villa. Talk of Richardson leaving for £10m to Arsenal... :emoticon-0104-surpr Beggers belief.

I think O'Neill's shown we can get by until the summer without investing to heavily and then perhaps re-evaluate then.

Who knows Gyan could be back in the summer yet! And I'd back him to do better under MON than he did under Bruce.

We should be going for Kranjcar and Corluka from Spurs. Both quality players.

Ben Arfa can't get in the team as it is, having more attacking wingers in the team is likely to further hamper his chances of a start. Also Samba and Cissokho won't happen, we need to be realistic here, we'll end up with Wayne Bridge on loan or someone even more ****......ever the optimist eh!

The thread was more tongue in cheek than anything else, I dont particularly expect us to spend anything more then a couple of million at best.

It's just a shame when you see what we could have if we had an owner with a bit of ambition.

Imagine spending the Carroll money, or even half of it on some high calibre players to bolster the squad? We could be pushing for Europa. The extra money from that would more than cover the transfer money spent and would still leave the fat man in profit.

I'm with you on that....with the exception of Hesakmi, Cissokho, Hoilett and Prior.

If previous traaansfer windows are anything to go by, we will put in a few "cheeky bids", at less than market price, like we have just done with Collinson. This process will be dragged out till the end of the month, at which stage poor Pardew will be dragged before the press to express disappointment that we hadn't been able to get anyone over the line, but pointing out that January is not a good time to buy anyway, and he will be working ever so hard, with Mike and Derek, to identify targets for the summer transfer window.

Call me cynical, but how many times does the same thing have to happen before one accepts that there is a pattern to the way we do business, under the present regime?

I am worried that the reason that Colo is delaying signing a new deal is because he is waiting to see if the club shows some ambition in strengthening the squad. If they don't, he may refuse to sign, just like Barton, Nolan and Enrique did this time last year.

However, my biggest worry is that Graham Carr will eventually get cheesed off with scouting all over Europe to identify players, who are then not signed, that he will be susciptible to an offer himself, from one of the big clubs, who must have already noticed how good he is at his job.

Gotta love the ambition of the message board, if not the real board.

We'll get 1 defender and nothing else. And that defender will be a cheapo young player.

So frustrating after the start we made this season.

It's a real shame that a team like that is only £20-25million or so away, especially given that Ashley has squandered so much money in the past on ****e.
