Maybe some people cant take the nerves also, like when your watching on the telly and the other team gets a pen and you turn the tv over until they have took it! and is the match still on the tv's in the concourse that late, am sure they are! so they head down to beat the waiting to get out of the stand, and they can just shoot off wen whistle blows!!! just some possible reasons, as well as the others i think that would acount for a high percentage of these people.

It happens at all sports although even if the game is essentially 'over' by a couple of goals I like to stay to the end and clap the team off. I always walk to the game (take TTC in Toronto) so I'm never in a hurry to 'get out of the car-park ahead of the rush' which I think is the issue for most who leave early... or maybe grab a good spot at a bar I guess.

I don't like to see it although I don't particulary think they're 'a disgrace' either and in fact I never actually condem people who leave early or even who stay away because I don't really know their circumstances... live and let live say I.

Getting to the A19 after the match is terrible, so TBH I can understand those that leave early. I've been stuck in that traffic on many occasions, so good job there's 5 Live's 606 to listen to on the radio! ;)

I used to rush on the final whistle, I now sit until most have gone, walk to the car and follow the traffic, I get home same time just dont spend as long getting there.

Noticed a few leaving but not as many as usual and, to be honest I was in no fit state to go anywhere too soon so sat in my seat till the crowds had died down a bit and then strolled into town to be picked up by the little woman and, transported to her friends house for tea and more drinkies. I can understand people leaving traffic, kids etc. but, as said after a game like that it was a bit of a waste.

This bloke is a bit of a muppet!!

I will admit to leaving early at times, especially if we are a couple of goals down or up, as getting out of my seat a couple of minutes before the end can save a good 45 minutes queuing to get out then sitting in traffic!

If someone wants to leave they leave. Simples! Another one of these more interested in how our ground looks to the armchair fans on MOTD rather than real life

Its just as bad when people turn up 5 minutes after the kick off when they have been necking down an extra pint as if it would be their last - now that is selfish when you compare it to someone who gets away a few minutes early to beat the crush.

Having said that I tend to loitre after the game, sometimes watching the players warm down, the groundsmen fixing the divots and the seagull's doing their aerobatics - all whilst listening to 5 live - sometimes I'm lucky enough to catch the legend that is Stuart Hall - he makes a 0-0 sound like a closely fought cup tie.

There's a few do it at our place too. One bloke near me rocks up 13 mins in.... And ****s off on 80 mins....

To draw an analogy I wouldn't buy a Pint.... Drink 80% and then Leave the pub

It is a case of you pays your money and takes your choice. The guy who sits next to me always leaves about 2 or 3 minutes before the end and he walks home. To me that is his decision and he has missed many goals, and winning goals both for and against us, over the years.

For his season card he pays exactly the same as me so it is his decision to go before the end. It's not as if someone is standing at the exits paying out a couple of quid to the people because they are leaving before the end. Or, at least, I don't think they do. <laugh> Perhaps if they did do that more would be leaving early maybe even me included. <yikes>
