Not doubting who you live next door to ? Think you missed the point. It's so funny you think you know football so well because you live next door to a coach. Have to agree with others that also find it funny, you prob need years of experience first hand in the game, train and live as a footie apprentice or work in the football industry in some professional capacity to make you know the game really well. I have watched the game for years as I am old & I haven't a clue sometimes by tactics managers use. Sorry how many years experience do you have ?
And you're about as amusing as going to watch Taunton Town on a Tuesday evening. If you didnt work it out, not very.
Well when i watch football im always understanding the tactics used so you know, and just cos I live next to a coach doesnt mean I know football so well?
By that logic Sam Hoskins has obviously trained at a pro level, with pro level coaches, so at least has the same knowledge as you, so he knows he's not good enough to play for Southampton? I'm now waiting for him to retire from professional football at any moment.
He will undoubtedly be good enough for pro football, but wether it's with Southampton is another matter. We bring some some real gems, but the vast majority of youngsters just move on because they aren't good enough for us.
I like the look of Sinclair but it may be a little early chuck him in now. If you put a youngster in to early and it doesn't come off, it can set them back quite a bit. I like his touch, pace and also his ability to pick out a pass, definitely one for the future. That said the FA Cup game away at Coventry would be the perfect game to give him a run out. I want to win every game but I think most would agree the league is far more important and I wouldn't be worried if we went out.
OMG can't believe I've just read through all that (or that I'm posting about it). But for the record, my dad is bigger than all of yours!
How have you become so experienced ? Do you work in the industry if you don't play ? You forgot to mention how old or how many years experience you have? Tactics baffle me esp when I think oh ***** will be subbed and ********** brought on and the manager does something completely different. Years watching and playing in local teams and still say I didn't see that tactic coming ! Love the youth aspect of the squad & its great to read we have so many good talents coming through. Hope to see them get a run out next weekend.
Calm down, since when did it matter so much ? Its not a competition of who knows the most about football for god sake.
He won't be seing it that way, obviously. He'll be working his arse off to try and put himself out there, knowing that he probably isn't going to make it at saints.
Sorry mate doesn't matter at all. Yeah agree was just talking about the game and how little I know about tactics at my old age ! Love to watch and play and see the youth come through We love to predict who will come on what tactic Adkins will use for the next game. I was just saying today how rubbish at it I am as I thought Holmes would come on.
There will be a few youngsters in the 18 on Saturday, so best to embrace it appropriately. I imagine Connolly will probably be rested for the league and we'll probably play with Reeves behind Forte. Can't see us winning, but hopefully we'll have the first of our signings before the next league game.
Well, it's amazing that wherever I sit at St Mary's, I am surrounded by experts. They shout loudly at the players, although I suspect that the players don't quite catch the instructions at that distance. Some may have played at some level, and some not. Curiously, most if not all of the advice seems to be about pointing out some failing that the players have. It is not obvious how well qualified to comment they are, of course. On the other hand, they don't tend to disagree with each other in an aggressive way, which I suppose is the difference between a forum and real life. Seriously, sometimes I wish that I understood tactics better than I do, but it seems that even those who reckon that they do, can't agree on the best ones to use. You only have to look at any thread where there is a choice between various players for a given game to see that. On the subject of the youth players, I will just rely on Nigel's judgement. If he says that one or more is ready, then that's fine. He seems to be a good judge to me.
I'm sorry but I want to win this league and depending on a unproven teenager to lead the line is not good enough. We need to splash the cash.
