Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to the game but watched it on Sky. But, the support, from the fans, literally seeped through the TV screen. I've never heard anything like that for many a long year. And, considering television only conveys about half of the noise, it must have been some atmosphere in the stadium! When, Larsson took control, of the ball, just before the goal, you could hear the roar & I sense everyone was thinking the same thing: we can win this. And, as we pushed forward, the noise just grew and grew, until it reached the final crescendo, when Ji scored. I think that is the main change of the O'neill era: the collective support. This conveys itself to the players on the pitch & the belief & results are there for all to see. Long may it continue.
Barry,i was there mate and it was special. When ji scored the stadium just erupted. And fair play to the city fans they played there part
Sounds like that movie "The Ring". No, not the man film im sure Tash or Chapparse watch, the other one with the lassie who comes out of the tv and kills you if you watch the video. Pre-DVD.
I didn't even watch our player's celebrating. I was too busy looking round, the euphoria going on around me was very special. When it got to around 70 min's, I was thinking no matter what happen's from here, they have done us proud. If we get that graft and desire every other week, the fan's will reward them.
I thought the city fans were poor compared to previous visits but maybe that was down to the way we played, we kept them quiet. Our fans however were magnificent, Larsson was dead on his feet when he received that ball but the crowd willed him on and he responded like a true pro. I would say that the whole team took spirit from the crowd yesterday and Man City wilted a little bit.
i think if we keep on playing like this it will be a sell out every week ,and that will reward ellis/quinn for all there hard work
Yes I know but if we don't pick up points away and start slipping back down the table the home support will disappear.
I hope im wrong but i do not think we will regularly sell out again.. obviously if we are regularly in the top six we may just make it but i think that the mixture of the terrible 15 point year and persistant religation fodder caused us to loose a lot of young support who have not returned...also i think the financial downturn and the price of a ticket have priced out a lot of fans, especialy when you can watch the match on your computer or phone or in the pub.....i do hope i am wrong but i do not think the mass support is there anymore....it would be very interesting to see if we ever got into europe what would be the size of the crowds given the price of the tickets.I know it was new years day but £1 for kids and we were 7 thousand of capacity........ and thats against the best team in the land..it does not bode well!
43,000 against Everton on Boxing day, 40,650 against Man City when there was no public transport on at all, I dont see why we cant get another 6,000/9,000 when there is public transport on, if we keep picking up points anyway, we have 3 away games on the bounce now 2 league 1 cup, then its Swansea and Norwich at home, might not get full houses for those,, cant see the away support filling their end, but then its Stoke away and Arsenal at home, I can see us making it a full house against Arsenal tbh. Onwards and upwards though hopefully.
Was mental yesterday, and not just when we scored. The SWC was excellent. I was in the west stand and the whole of our section doing the poznan after the goal, taking the piss out of citeh was class. It'll live long in the memory the scenes there like.
I watched it on telly and when we scored I went ballisitic. Poor dog didnt know what was going on. Absolutely amazing. The image of seb looking goosed in the centre circle after he passed the ball epitomised the industry and desire we now have in our team, and long may it continue.
