I did a massive article about how I rated him...so I will also take a slice of 'i told you so' pie. He just needs proper guidance and a game plan. Bruce never gave him that.

No humble pie eating from me. dont like the taste ;)

The lad has not been good enough ever since his 1st back injury up until the last 2 games - even though he had the potential. Just cause he seems to becoming the player he has the potential to be under MON, doesnt change my opinion of his performances leading up to MON moulding him into a decent holding midfielder.

However, that doesnt mean my opinion of him cant change if he keeps on improving under MON (2 decent games dont make a good player imo).

Played well today BUT he’s still a liability with his penchant for picking up cards.
Until he can go a month without any I’ll hold my judgement about his temperament.

Probably because he's played 160 EPL games for 54 yellow & 4 reds.

A better strike rate than most number 10's don't you agree.

I've always liked Cattermole and when at his best he's brilliant. I think it was Liverpool when he was outstanding but got injured and he had never been quite the same. I was just begining to lose faith in him when O'Niell recalled him against QPR. Cattermole has been excellent since. However today he simply would not be beaten, he was a true captain and I think he enjoys playing City. He deserves praise as he was brilliant today. As do most of the players. Really gave their all today......makes you proud!

Cut me a slice as well, thought was one of his best games for us, staying on his feet more, less daft diving in, still not the best passer but as a holding player was great.
Considering the amount of players moved around again 4 points from last 6 has been brilliant, colback and gardner were great as makeshift fullbacks, kilgallon did nothing wrong, ming made a couple of unconventional stops but for me westwood would come 1st, sess looks the only player with the spark upfront but should have squared it to maclean, bendtner was average, mclean looks better evry time i see him, is defo a bit raw but for the cash paid has defo got potential.
Overall think we were great, rode our luck a couple of times, offside goal but had a few chances ourselves to be up before we were just deserved the points but would have taken 0-0 at the start

Catts showed that he can drive a team on today and lead.

I've never been on one side of the Catts fence or the other, so I don't want either pie. I didn't like him, Meyler, and Colback in the same midfield alongside a sideways-passing Henderson as you isolate your striker like that. But I can't see O'Neill doing that anyway.

Cards and injuries? Well school the cards out of his game, and you might just solve a lot of his injuries too. I think recklessness was at the root of both problems (not entirely of course - there'll always be an odd injury you can't avoid). But some of his madcap tackles were inviting injury as well as cards. He didn't do that today, and he's better not doing it.

Passing? Stick him in a field with a sackful of balls and a dustbin. I don't need a sports science degree or a coaching badge to know practice makes perfect.

I'm not eating any sort of pie this morning; I always believed and said that the lad had emormous potential but I did start to worry that he was never going to realise it.

I'm tempted to look back on SB with very jaundiced vision and wonder what the hell he was thinking with how he managed lads like Catts... I keep hearing that comment "I'm not really bothered about tactics" echoing in my head and think not only have we dodged a bullet but a lot of the younger players did too.
