Firstly, can I start by saying I am a mature Leeds fan and would like to compliment you lot on the season you're having and style of football. Of course in recent years we've contributed by allowing you to poach some of our young talents but no hard feelings. Your Andros Townsend has signed on loan for remainder of season. Can you shed some light on the lad. We're in dire need of a creative midfielder. Could he be the answer?
Welcome and thanks for the kind words In short, he's not a creative midfielder. He's a fast left winger who has a good cross on him and is technically gifted on both feet* but I wouldn't expect him to be a creative start of attacks, rather a target for attacking down the wings with his direct runs and willingness to take on defenders. I'm not sure if Ceballos is 17 yet but he, Mason and Carroll would be the creative midfielders you might be looking for. Often a loan deal like this can lead to more regular loanees heading to Leeds, we've got plenty available as we'd been using them in the Europa League which we are now out of. *see his goal with his right against Shamrock Rovers.
If u wanted a creative midfielder you probably should have got Mason, but he just left for millwall so unlucky. Although I think townsend is a much better all around player and better prospect
Townsend, not a creative midfielder, an out and out left winger but pure class, I can't understand why he doesn't make our bench every week. He would be the first choice for the other 19 Prem sides now but we have Gareth Bale. Enjoy, the guy has vision, he will score goals from nowhere and is a better crosser of the ball then both Bale or Lennon.
With Townsend you will get some dynamic performances on the wing...direct..head down...have a pop at goal...similar to Lennon but a bit taller
Looks like more of a goalscorer than Lennon, too. Not afraid to shoot, when the opportunity arises. If you wanted to loan a creative midfielder from us, then you could have done far worse than Tom Carroll. He looks like he's about 12, but he's provided some very mature performances in the Europa League this season. Did very well on loan at Orient for the second half of the last campaign and he looks like he could be good enough to make it at the top level.
Sounds great lads. At last something for us to look forward to. Send us Tom Carroll as well if you like. We can't afford to be too picky after our recent run of results
Sounds like he's started well http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/andros-off-to-a-flyer-030112.html Andros Townsend set-up a dramatic late winner on his debut for Leeds United. The flying winger has joined the Elland Road side on loan for the rest of the season. And he made quite an impression in front of his new home fans as Leeds came from behind to beat Burnley 2-1 in the Championship on Monday. Andros was a constant threat to Burnley - so much so, that three players received yellow cards for fouls on him. Burnley, down to 10 men from the half-hour mark when Kieran Trippier was sent off, led through Charlie Austin's goal when an own goal with two minutes remaining levelled it. Andros then drilled in a shot in the final minute of added time, keeper Lee Grant spilled it and Ross McCormack tapped home. "He's an exciting talent," said Leeds boss Simon Grayson. "He's two-footed, he can drive up the pitch, and we were delighted with his effort. He'll only get better from being with us."
The Spurs site can be a little iffy with the truth, having a shot that the keeper spills is not setting up a goal Good to hear he's had a good debut. It's worth Leeds fans noting that a fair few Spurs fans are already rueing that he's out on loan and not in our team!
Agreed YV, the OS is used purely as a marketing tool rather than a method of conveying factual information, hence we are never told about players' injuries, that would be far too negative
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...wnsend-needs-taxi-deliver-football-boots.html Bet he can't wait to play against Arsenal!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16400847.stm Trippier sent off for a foul on Townsend. Townsend's spilled shot turned into the net for the winner. Not bad for a debut, I guess!
