Top scorers this season: Craig Davies (eight) and Ricardo Vaz Te (seven). Top assistant: Jacob Butterfield (seven). League position: 16th with 30 points from 23 games. Form: LWLLWL, although their home form looks distinctly stronger with four wins and two losses from their last six. They haven't drawn a game since September. Their last match was a 3-1 loss at home to Blackpool. History: They've done well against us of late and a 5-2 win at Oakwell last season which spawned a commemorative DVD and placemat will be (slightly too well) remembered in Tarn for some time. They also defeated us at Elland Road this season in a 1-2 almost exactly a month ago and drew 3-3 in the corresponding fixture in 2010-11. Leeds have a poor record at Oakwell and have only won seven times in 26 outings. Barnsley by contrast have won 11. It doesn't look good for the Whites. The ground: Oakwell was opened in 1888 and holds around 23,000 fans. Leeds have been allocated the North Stand and around 5,000 tickets, some of which are still available. The ground's just a five-minute walk from the train station which is a half-hour ride from Leeds. Get yourself down there! Click here for Barnsley's latest stats. Great match thread 18. I'd like to see us line up: .........................Lonergan......................... Connelly...Lees......Kisnorbo...Pugh..... ..................Clayton....Brown................. .....Snodgrass..Vayrynen..Nunez.... .....................McCormack................ If Lees is out, I'd play Bromby instead. Ok he had a shocker last time out but he's still better than O'Dear. Pugh at LB as he's more solid & defensive-minded than White, who could probably do with a break. Could do with more firepower so I'd have Nunez playing off McCormack, who I think could do the lone striker role. After all I don't think you need to be a big lump, a target man, to play up there on your own, as Suarez has shown at Liverpool. As long as it's not hoofed up to him from the back it might work. Time to shake things up a bit, give Mika & Nunez an extended run, & take Becchio & White out of the firing line. Don't think Keogh should feature either if we're not keeping him beyond Jan 2nd. Impossible to predict the score, both teams so inconsistent, could do with a win to get the confidence up again.
Square pegs round holes TOWIE. Nunez is not a winger. McCormack can't play the lone striker. Why can no one, including the manager, see that Nunez will only shine if he's put in an attacking mid role? 451 Becchio up front and Nunez in the pocket. White and Snodgrass on the wings. Brown Clayton middle, back four, Pugh Kisnorbo <**** knows> Conolly. It's so simple.
I didn't put Nunez on the wing, he's just behind McCormack, who's our only decent striker if you discount Keogh who's off back to Wolves, & Becchio who's off form. I don't know about square pegs in round holes though- there's not much to choose from. It's not my fault Grayson's assembled such a disjointed, mediocre squad. Let's face it, we've got a maximum of nine players in the entire squad who are any good, & two of those, Howson & Somma, are injured. There's not enough quality first teamers, let alone quality cover. To sum up, we've a poor squad, poor team, poor tactics,no money being invested on the playing staff, & a **** of a Chairman. Happy days.
3 - 1 Barnsley sad to say but we are lost at sea without any idea of how or what to do to get back to into the promotion race!!!
Well with Lees, Howson and Snodgrass all our, our crappy strength in depth is really going to be tested here before we have the chance to sign reinforcements. Becchio McCormack - Nunez - Sam Brown - Clayton White - O'Dea - Kisnorbo - Connolly McCarthy McCarthy needs a chance to get these Barnsley twats back for their flukey goals at Elland Road. I still rate Lonergan, but we might as well make the most of this kid while we have him; he's class. O'Dea's obviously got to be preferred to Bruce and Bromby in Lees' absence. Not hugely confident about that defence, but like I say, that's where not having a strong enough reserve pool gets you. Hopefully we'll go back to 4-2-3-1 (which was apparently the formation played at Derby), and I suppose Snodgrass will have to be replaced by Sam on the right wing, and Pugh with McCormack on the other since DP's skilful running at fullbacks... doesn't exist. Brown has passion. Put him in the holding role and get Clayton forwards as much as possible to create chances and put pressure on Barnsley's defence. We can't rely on these wingers to create as much as Snoddy would have done, so play it through the middle to Becchio and McCormack and get them bloody running the channels. Barnsley are a very well organized team judging by their performance at Elland Road, but then again, they've conceded god knows how many in their last five games. We can maul them if we show a bit of desire and concentration. COME THE F*CK ON LEEDS!
Derby are also winning if this stays as it is (or gets worse) we shall be going into 2012 in 11th or 12th spot
If an average Barnsley team can score 3, god only knows what even the Arsenal 2nd team will do in the cup next week
