I was listening briefly to TalkSport on the car radio, when I nipped out to grab a few tins of beer, and the bloke who was commentating on the 'Pool v Toon game with Stan Collymore said that if 'Pool win tonight they will finish the year in 4th, and he said that that is where all the Mickey Mousers would have settled for, at the start of the season. That's all very well, except that it ignores two very important facts. Firstly, no, 'Pool won't end the year in 4th, because even if, as is looking likely (at the time of my writing this) 'Pool do beat Toon, they will be behind Chelsea on goal-difference, in 5th. Secondly, Chelsea only need to draw tomorrow at home to Villa to go 4th outright. This isn't the first time that the presenters on TalkSport have got their facts completely wrong. Such incompetence! I can hardly believe that these people have any form of gainful employment, let alone presenting a radio show. The presenter was banging on about how wonderfully well Queen Kenny has done since taking over that, in addition to making up all the facts about their season, he also failed to undertake any form of analysis, such as should Spurs win both their games in hand over 'Pool we'll be 10 points clear of them, at the half-way stage; and that, when you consider that not so long ago, 'Pool were where we are right now and we were struggling to maintain where they are right now, things haven't gone well, at all, for the Queen. Plus, without Gerrard, 'Pool would not be winning tonight. He has made all the difference for them, because Carroll has proven, yet again, that he is a complete and utter donkey. He is a yard too slow to be a top striker, and he lacks even basic ball control to be deemed a natural predator. He isn't worth even £3 million, let alone £35 million!
God, just what we don't need - Scousers talking up their team, whilst their conspiracy theories that Thatcher is the sole reason their city is a **** heap (rather than one of many, many reasons) come true.
http://www.skysports.com/football/league/0,19540,11660,00.html Updated league table and as you correctly say 'Pool are 5th as Chelsea have a game in hand. So do Arsenal so technically 'Pool are 6th.
Liverpool's net spend in the summer was about £55m more than ours, they're 4 points behind us and they've played 2 games more than us, both of which are home games. Suarez looks likely to miss about half of the remaining season, too. Their defence has been pretty good this season, despite the hammering that we gave them, but I still think they'll finish 6th.
Me, too. And I can very much assure those berks over on TalkSport that the average Mickey Mouser will NOT have settled for that, at the start of the season.
6th sounds about right to me too. Tbh I think Hodgson would of got them 6th last season. King Kenny hasn't really done much there imho.
Their defence has been very good so if they start scoring I think they could be a dark horse - they are not far behind 4th despite all their poor results
Liverpool fan here. If you think talkSPORT is so awful HIAG, don't listen. Then you won't get wound up by them! And on your point regarding Gerrard, isn't that what great players do? Be able to change the game. Spurs have players which can change the game in an instant. It's what good teams have.
The Mickey Mousers will never finish higher than 5th - at very best - for one simple reason. They're not good enough to finish any higher. Yes, Gerrard makes a big difference - when he's fit. But, how long will he stay fit? Apart from that, they've squandered ridiculous sums of money on very average players. I think it's finally dawning, on even the most blinkered scouser, that these players, Carroll & Downing especially, are no more than average, at best.
The only Top 4 player they have is Reina - Gerrard and Suarez are when on form (or, respectively, not injured/suspended), but that's it.
I'd say Enrique and Suarez are top 4 players too, Croydon. The Uruguayan's attitude is a problem though, obviously.
Liverpool has changed a lot to be fair. I used to spend my summers up there as my family are all from there. Was a **** hole then, now new shopping centre and a great nigh out.
You obviously haven't seen the way we played under Hodgeson compared to the way we play under Dalglish. Except when you played us where you guys made us look like school girls (Cough*Twice*Cough).
If I didn't listen I wouldn't know how biased they were being! Besides, being wound-up is the best bit about that radio show
Be interesting to see what happens to the spuds when Adebayor goes to ACN, Van der Vart gets one of his regular injuries, Kings knees give up(again), Bale goes to Barca, Modric goes to Chelsea or Utd, and Harry gets banged up. Thoughts?
