Even Løvenkrands recently instructed his agent to find him a club where he could get regular first team football, so why not Alan Smith?
His wages are massive ( worth 6 Jason Priors....) and if freed up, we might have other transfer window options.

We've never had a peep of interest in him; he's being essentially paid to train. Is he that bad no one will even loan him with a wage subsidy? The last I heard was him moving to USA ( tied in with our pre-season tour) or Leeds ( but can you imagine Bates and Ashley clashing over who pays what?).

Sorry, but this just seems like the very last breath of that horrible Fat Sam's legacy.

His opinion will be this is my contract and I'm having it. It's not his fault and you would do the same at that stage of your career. He will end up going to MLS no doubt and getting loads there.

  4. He's on like 65k a week. He wouldn't leave at his age. The best he could hope for is a mid table CC side.

Think he could still do a job for one too! Think I'll still follow him, check out how he's doing, if and WHEN he goes!

I don't hate him as much as other people, I'm just glad he's not playing <laugh>

Fair point, but if your job was to do something like he does, something he supposedly loves, you'd think twice...

Look at Steven Carr, he was ****e for us, still, went to the Brum and became captain, took them back to the PL, won a medal and took them into Europe...Smith could've done the same!

Smith has told a number of people in Starbuck's Jesmond that 'he has no intention of leaving' because 'nobody will pay him this much'.

This is why I dislike him so much. Well, that and the fact he's ****.

Smith has now fallen behind Perch and a couple of teenagers (one of which isn't even a CM by trade) in the CM pecking order <laugh>

He's probably 9th choice CM now, yet he is still one of our highest paid players!

That's when you know it's time to leave.

Tiote, Cabaye, Guthrie, Gosling, Abeid, Vuckic, Perch, Raylor, Smith?

I heard we were offering him to teams like Leeds and offering to pay 2/3s of his wages, that's how desperate it's gotten. I'll be happy when he's gone in 6 months, long outstayed his welcome.

He's past his best but at least he's not caused trouble.

We should really be flogging him to China, just emphasise the fact he was a Manchester United Red Devils Legend and they should fall for it. They won't be able to tell he's rubbish since there's no competition over there.

I'd do the same. He knows he'll get a Championship club next season with no trouble at all.

Its probably just a mixture of greed and laziness, imagine having to pack up your stuff and relocate everything you own maybe to a different country for a 3rd of what he is currently on.

Normally this would be acceptable to just take your wage each week for clearly contributing nothing to the team this season if you were on a low wage and needed the money i.e Kuqi i.e however since he probably already has enough to easily live comfortably for the next few years, it comes down to greed for me!
