After Rosenior's 5th yellow against the scum on Boxing Day, we must find a replacement right back, the obvious answer would be "banter king" Paul McShane, but I fear many are reacting to this negatively.

When Big Nige was ****ing up horribly at the start of last season, Macca was a beacon of hope, and would probably now be player of the season, be captain and have an OBE if we hadn't signed Rosenior.

Please show your support for Paul McShane in what could (unfortunately) be his last game for the Tigers.

I still think he's ok, nothing special but nothing terrible either.

The first 3 posts on that Twitter account were an attempt at self parody that nobody got. I've since used that account to help my good friend Paul Duffen spread the truth.

However, my appreciation of Paul McShane is no joke, he's a talented footballer with an impeccable barnet who attracts a lot of unfair criticism.

I think McShane had his best game for us in pre-season against Liverpool before being injured. Players should only be judged on their last game and for that reason I would welcome him back.

I said on another thread I like McShane. He'll give 100% and stick his head where others wouldn't put their feet.

A failing is that he'll put in extra effort to cover for out of position or hiding colleagues. This means he's involved more and stretching himself, which seems to be the only bit some people see. The same people seem did not seem to see some other players going missing, prompting the need for cover.

He's fun and enthusiastic on the training ground by all accounts too.

All in all it's a plus to us that he's playing but in any event fans should support the team, and ALL players are a part of that.

<laugh> I sincerely hope this bit is a joke, I like Macca but Rosenior is a different class, hence why he's first choice. I'm happy for Macca to play as he puts the effort in every time but Rosenior is the much better option as his all round game is better. If Macca does leave in January then i'll wish him well but it's nothing to lose any sleep over.

Agree with this, McShane's a solid professional and had it not been for his contract/wage/club debt we'd have seen more of him. The lad can't be blamed for accepting a good contract, blame the previous regime. Purely on a footballing basis he sets an example which others should look to emulate. I hope he has a blinder, scores a brace from corners and shut up the critics.

Support the team, support the players!

Yep could be his last game Percy and you wont be there will you?
He is a nice guy etc but a calamity waiting to happen. Everyone will be holding their breath whenever he is near the ball. But fuk it- Mcshane for first goalscorer. Kamikaze like header from a corner, just hope it goes in their net!

I LOVE McShane! would be the best right back in the league if it wasn't for rosie. People criticize him for the odd mistake but tbh Chester does the odd mistake and nobody shouts hes a liability. He will be motm on sat :)

If Burnley do play Rodrigues and Vokes from the off then Mcshane will be good cover for Chester in the air. I just remember they had a tricky cheating wide man who may trick him into lunging in.

Chester being weak in the air is a myth. Just because he isn't 6ft plus doesn't mean that he's an average player when it comes to heading the ball, or in fact his ability to out strengthen opponents.

As for McShane, I don't have any particular problem with him coming in for Rosenior (as long as it's only for one game <ok>)

I agree I thought he had a good game, and have always felt his best position in the centre of defence.
