So with Stephen Ireland recently saying how happy he is to be at Newcastle, it seems he has managed to split opinion.

Many have said theyre not sure , give him a chance, which i believe is true IMO.

What grates me are the villa fans expressing their dislike for him , but to be honest he never got a chance at villa, surely player of the year at Man City to total waste of space cant be true?

I am open to opinion until he plays games, but with our midfield unit playing so well, when will he get his chance? WE only have him until the end of the season?

And I doubt Fatshley will spash out 55k a week on a player with a game or two under his belt?

What I will say is please stephen dont ruin another bentley to please the missus, that is a serious case of man up! <diva>

He's a good player, no doubting that, so the only option is to give him a few games and see what he can do in these remaining 10 or so games, then take a gamble on those performances.
We might be able to get him on reduced wages, considering he'll be grateful for the chance to play here. He likes it here it seems, so he'd be keen to stay I hope.
Think he's set to get his chance against Everton, whether starting or on the bench. Look forward to seeing him.

If he is happy here then he would take a pay cut to play for us. I like the guy, I wanted him earlier but I guess we wouldn't have got Tiote then.

I read somewhere Panathinaikos are interested in taking him in the summer, and are willing to meet his massive wages. But I doubt he'll want to move to Greece, I think he'd rather take a cut and stay in a city that will no doubt love him.

Ireland seems to be a very complex and emotional character. He is obviously a very talented footballer but needs to get things right off the pitch in order to perform at a decent level on it (more so than other players). His retirement from international football was bizarre to say the least and it seems as though he couldn't settle at Villa, but if, as he has stated in the press, he is enjoying living in Newcastle and working at the club, we could indeed see the very best from him.
He needs to start playing soon, and needs to impress Pardew straight away as there are not many games left for him to prove his worth, but I have a feeling that he will do well for us, although our dressing room is beginning to resemble a scene from "One flew over the cuckoo's nest", what with having looneys like him and Barton, together with a tattoo-lipped gangsta.

I think he will get games towards the end of the season to see what he's about as i'd imagine there could be a clause in the loan that says we can buy him if we want.

Hope he does well. Excellent player at Man City. Dreadful at Villa. Mediocre for Newcastle?

Let's hope it's near to the Man City Ireland!
