Left Back if that's what Pardew says.

Got to be a winger due to his crossing but if he learns more and more from Enrique could have our own Bale

He looked really good vs Chelsea in the Carling Cup and I see him as a versatile player for either position which is good.

    full quote
“We kept Ferguson here rather then send him to Italy because he is close to the first-team squad now.”

“I see him ultimately as a full-back, but he needs to get stronger.” “He is on the milk and steak diet, rather than the chicken and pasta.”

“It is all about protein!” “He has a great chance here.”

agree he could be the ideal cover we've been after down the left

Enrique is the perfect person for him to learn from. Both attacking full backs.

If he doesn't 'bulk up' I imagine he will just become a winger instead?

Wherever there is a gap I would say. If Gutierrez has ran out of steam, he can play left. He played well against Chelsea and West Ham but if the worst should happen and Enrique gets a knock (not all bad if it puts clubs off buying him) then he could fit in there too. But I think Perch, Taylor, Campbell would get in ahead of him and juggling the back four around.

I hope he gets some game time towards the end of the season. He's never really goint to improve playing reserve level.

I was really impressed with him against Chelsea, think he played at left back but made some impressive runs and crosses into the box.

He looks a really good prospect.

This, I think he is primarily a left back when he started but has a good cross on him so could easily fit that position

Brilliant quote! I hope he lives up to the hype, cos he seems a quality player. Good to see Pards taking an active role in the exciting youth also!

If I was in the team canteen or wherever they eat together, as much as I love chicken and pasta if I was getting that and he was getting a ****ing steak every day....

    Well I'd be majorly jealous.

    Great quote. <laugh>

I've thought that about Ferguson, looks talented but a bit too lightweight for the senior team right now. At the moment I see him as cover for Enrique, pleasing to hear he's close to the first team.

Same. Looks good attacking, although not sure about his defending, may need to beef up a bit to be a ''proper'' LB.

I'd rather he be a left back who can play on the wing rather than the other way around, full backs are ok on thw wing because they have less to do, whereas if you learn your trade as a winger you will generally not have a good knowledge of defending. I'd like him to be primarily a LB, but if he isnt getting chances, play him in midfield.

I think regardless where he ends up playing, training as a left back is a good idea. He can then choose to be a winger but will have learned to track back, the other way around and he'd stay light and unable to fill in at left back.

I see him as a winger but we need cover at left back so playing him there where he can toughen up is a good idea, we could even end up with him and Tavernier playing as wing backs! ;)

<EDIT> Sorry Smudger, as soon as I hit send I realised I was pretty much repeating what you'd just said. I really should read the other responses before posting. :emoticon-0111-blush

First time I saw him play was in the 4-3 against Chelsea and he looked very good. Mature for his age too.
