We'll be waiting forever if we dont give him a chance while he's developing.

As my mother used to say "You can't squeeze cheese from a goat that hasn't hatched yet".

    Who knows, hopefully not long

I think Carroll's a good example. Was at a similar age, relatively unknown, just cited as a brilliant prospect with great potential, had a string of games and started banging them in. Now look, 35 million player...apparently....

I agree with the article. There is potential there, no doubt about it but the only way I'd like him in the side at the minute is with 70 minutes on the board. He's a hell of an impact sub but he still has a lot to learn, firstly to play as part of a team. He's very greedy (I noticed against Spurs and Liverpool) and he's still very immature. Once he grows up and learns to play as part of a team then he will deserve his spot.

I don't understand it either. He's done nowt bar one good performance as a sub against the bin dippers and the odd goal in the mickey mouse leage. It's the same with Vuckic, all hype.

Because he is better and younger than Lovenkrands yet Lovers continually starts instead of him.

    OT have some rep.

As for Ranger, how long will we have to wait? Well we have to give him a chance first. Coming on for 20 minutes is not a chance. Give him a few starts, then see how he gets on.

but doesnt that say something about ranger that a half fit lovens get ahead of him?

fact is he isnt showing the goods enough for AP to start him. Carroll did when he had the chance...

Don't forget there were question marks over his attitude to training so that would have held him back from making appearances as he couldn't be seen to have cared less in training yet somehow get rewarded for it.

It's been mentioned that he has improved his overall attitude and if so he will make the squad more often and begin to push out the more experienced players such as Lovenkrands and Shola.

Well apparently his attitude isnt all there in training. But theres no doubting his potential and that he is more effective when on the pitch than Lovers

We should threaten to de-rep him so he goes back down to 1 unless he follows our every command!

I think the fact he was showing off his "celebratory tattoo" to the news before he's even scored shows what kind of attitude he has.

I always have the same argument with my mates either Ranger or Lovenkrands. I'm personally all for McLoven cause he's experienced and he reminds me a lot of Michael Owen (a good michael owen). He's a very intelligent player who has pace and creates runs and space. Unfortunately Jose and Gutierrez either dont see him or dont have the ability to pick him up (they are improving though!) whereas Ranger... hmm.

1). Some people progress faster than others. That should be obvious. Just because Wilshire is 19 and now prolific, it doesn't mean that Ranger is crap because his development is taking slightly longer.

2). As stated above, he's only 19, and he will need time to progress and gain confidence. Who else was in the same boat until last year? Oh yeah, Andy Carroll, the most expensive British player in history. Ranger has missed a few sitters which has probably really dented his confidence even further. However, when he gets his first goal, I think we'll see him start to bang them in more and more often.

3). He has incredible composure and goalscoring ability in the reserve matches. It IS there to be had. He just needs to muster up the confidence and composure in-front of an EPL net. It will take some time.

4). So far, he's only had short substitute appearances. In fact, when you add up all of the minutes played as a sub, he's barely played a few EPL matches worth of time. He needs a start so he can get into the game right from the beginning like everyone else. He needs to be there at the start when everyone is fresh and gets into the pace of the game. Then we can take a better look at what he can do.
