None of us are having a go at the big teams but you must admit that they'd do better in Europe if they had to push themselves week in, week out.

We're also under no illusions that we're as good as our league position suggests.

    Stay calm.

It's ridicoulus to say that there can't be any good players in it just because the league is s***. Take Steven Fletcher, a player that have scored goals for two different teams in the PL for fun. Nikica Jelavic are easily better than Fletcher and would be a real coup for us, he has a much broader register than others we're linked to (Defoe, Zamora, Johnson) and i would take him in a heartbeat. He's a regular for a good national team where his teammates are Modric, Kranjcar, Olic etc. Luca Modric for instance came straight from the Croatian league (poorer than the Scottish at the time) to the PL and performed instantly. I'm not comparing the two of them, just givin' an example.
And if you look at his career (teams he's played for) you will se that he's climbing his career ladder step by step and i will not be surpriced if his management deliberately choose the SPL as a shop window for a possible future move to the Barclays Premier League, just a thought.

No, you're in the Premier League. Enjoy it while it lasts.

To those of you who think we'll get him for a snip just because Rangers struggle financially, think again.
The payd £4 mill when he signed from Rapid Vienna, since then he's scored 33 times in 44 matches. If we wan't him we'll have to double Rangers' outlay me thinks.

If Rangers were solvent he wouldn't be for sale, the facts are that they are over £40 million in debt and the figure is rising and the taxman is knocking on their door. Their outgoings are massive and they can't cover them, this is their current financial situation:

If they can survive being placed in administration they might be able to get a profit on Jelavic but they are desperate for funds simply to keep operating, shades of Portsmouth there...

That's the way football is mate if they need the money then the buying club can call the shots, happened to us enough times.
BTW no way would I pay £8 mill for him rather spend the money elsewhere.

Sounds encouraging - although I assume there will be other clubs looking at him if Rangers don't reject us out of hand

Guess we'll just have to wait and see how much he goes by. But he's not listed, Rangers are not under admin. (yet), strikers cost more in january than in the summer. Rangers will make a profit on their £4 mill investment for sure. If that means £5,6,7,8 or 9 mill. only time will tell.

Half decent strikers always end up at Celtic or Rangers because they wouldnt get into a prem side. This blokes no different, might score a hatfull against East Fife but whats going to happen when he is playing against top defenders each week. Leave well alone !!!

Hi folks....been up in Scotland for Xmas and watched the old firm game last night with a bunch of celtic fans. From what I saw I wasn't impressed personally. (mind you I'm no football manager.) The guys I was with (father in law and his two brothers) did say he was a good player and would be glad if he wasn't at rangers. Also it sounds like a lot of other managers are interested in him (Roy Hodgeson and David Moyes were both in the crowd last night) IMO they both seem to know a decent player so he could be a really good player and just had an off night last night. Who knows, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Forgot to mention that i can't see us paying those amounts anyway. I'm bracing myself for a massively underwhelming january re transfers. And i agree with you if that's what we got to spend, then yes i'm sceptical with blowing it on one player from SPL.
