Anyone think we should go for this guy in the summer? Real don't want him, Everton can't afford to buy him. If Ben Arfa and Ba are our front two, then there won't be too much point getting to the byline and crossing in, our best play will go through the middle. So stick Drenthe on the right and let him cut in to shoot/pass to Ben Arfa/ whip a cross in for Ba. Could work really well.

I'd love us to get him, he's available on a free and can cover RW. Think wages could be an issue though.

If he's on a free he'll go to Everton.

They can't pay his wages. We might be willing to pay them for someone without a transfer fee.

Wages/signing on fee might stand in the way? I dont know, I think if he performs well he might get some better offers than both of us.

I'd take him for sure, maybe Krul knows him ;) I would only play him on the left wing though and if needs be can cover at left back. Still couldn't see him replacing Gutierrez though.

Quality player just usurped by world class players. He may well get better offers than us (maybe Arsenal?) or some other team playing in Europe

Would be nice to have a goal threat from the wing, and some versatility - LW/RW/LB

I'd definitely take him, he's brilliant. Can't see it happening though to be honest.

Krul played in the u21 tournament in 2009 i think, and they got quite far so maybe he can put in a good word

He and Baines are the reason I try and catch some of their match every week, such an exciting player to watch! - especially in a side like theirs that otherwise is really lacking attacking flair.

Is he on a free because his contract's up or because of a clause? If he's out of contract I can't see him being too demanding over wages, he'll probably go to the highest bidder so it depends who's in for him.

I haven't really seen him play for years, I can remember him playing for the Dutch U21s and a bit for Real Madrid, he was pretty anonymous when he played against us though.

Out of contract I think. Not good enough for Madrid of course but he'd be a welcome addition here IMO.

2 goals, 6 assists already this season despite needing to patiently wait for his chance in the starting XI, and then an injury spell. A little more production (statistically speaking at least) than our current wingers are offering...

*No offence intended towards Jonas, he obviously puts in his shift at each end of the pitch

Available on a free, I think we should take a punt especially if Everton are going to struggle with his wages/signing-on fee. He's a very good player who quite understandably just couldn't get a team of world class ones at Madrid. He's got what we need, he's always looking to beat a player and is very enterprising. He's not perfect but he'd be well worth it as long as his wages aren't astronomical.

I think he would be a good addition on a free, might even give Obertan a kick up the arse to start performing!

Never mind Obertan, Gutierrez has been performing at a very poor level for quite a few games now.
