Yes I did see it and I've heard all the remarks since 1966 that rubbish England winning the trophy. From it was fixed, to they couldn't win it anywhere else but their own backyard, and yes the linesman won it for them, despite the fact that Geoff Hurst went on to score another goal later on. Whatever is said England's name is on that roll of honour, the game itself was hard fought and had drama with a late goal from the German's spoiling the party, until the extra time that was. It is also notable for Geoff Hurst being the first man to score a hat trick, and the only one to do, in a World Cup final. One more question who are the only players from the UK to have won a World Cup Winners medal and a European Cup (Champions League if you like) winners medal ...... answer Bobby Charlton and Nobby Stiles. That team, or near on, went on to play some more memorable matches and a testament to the players of the day, Bobby Charlton remained friends with Franz Beckenbauer for many years much like Bobby Moore and Pele. The least said about England's teams since that glorious day the better, despite them being payed megabucks these days they have been woeful.
