I know this has been done before but with the window getting ever closer why not try again? been looking at the gossip columns over last few weeks to see who is availkable and who we could realistically sign so here goes: GK: Lewis (good possiblity as would be a step up for him - but would probably warm bench so maybe he would decline) Defenders: Bassong (I think there is a real chance with Spurs after Samba) Samba (Slim chance as Spurs after him) Alex (Possible but wages could be an issue) Bridge (As Alex) Ridgewell (Good chance but is he any better than what we have?) Midfielders: Hleb (Possible but denied by Warnock?) De Jong (Possible loan deal would be a great deal if we could pull it off) McGeady (Long shot but who knows?) Beckham (Think he's off to PSG?) Forwards: Defoe (Cant see it personally) Bent (Not my choice as too expensive) Johnson (Possible but Blackburn showing an interest) Zamora (Good chance and can do a job of holding the ball up) Maynard (Available but can he make the step up?) Jelavic (Again can he step up?) Just a selection I'm sure you can think of more so feel free to add to list.
Cahill is heading for Chelsea which means Samba is likely to end up at Spurs and Bassong will be ours. Would love to see Onuoha with us but his mother's illness makes a north-west team more likely. There are some goalscorers outside the PL worth a punt and Jordan Rhodes would be worth trying as would Nicky Maynard...
