hi i am only doing this as the game is on monday and lenny may be away. apologies in advance if you are not away, as i do not wish to step on anyones toes. anyway enough of the prologue. our visit to cheltenham is an important game for the shrews. gt rates the club and excellent manager and believes they are capable of going the distance, as their recent results may testify results d a barnet 2-2, w h southend 3-0,w a oxon 3-1 w h vale 2-0, w a bantams 1-0 w h argyle 2-1. L h crewe 0-1. small wonder gt rates them. league p21 w13 d3 L5 f34 a20 gd14 points 42 pos.3 p21 w12 44 L5 f33 a20 gd13 points 40 pos.4 there is hardly a *** paper between the clubs, just annoyingly 2 points. chelt home performance is exceedingly handy to quote mr kipling w7 d1 L2 f16 a6 shrews need to play a fully fit strong team to match cheltenhams performances, i doubt if town are capable of winning away on monday, a draw will suit both clubs well and i go for 1-1 wroe att 5500. if shrews were to win this, it would set us up very well for 2012. floreat salopia, come on you shrews breath on 'em, and show all those scouts in the crowd just what we tinpots are capable of!
I must confess, I completely forgot to do this - cheers AJ! Their home form has been rather hit and miss at points this season (although not in the last few games - surely they're due a loss), much like our away form. It should be a decent game on paper, but I reckon it'll be a cagey, boring one on this festive occasion. It's also the kind of game we don't seem to draw - win or lose seems to be the way it goes with us in big matches. I think we'll lose 1-0, att 4530.
thanks lenny, latest news is in the s/star, uncle graham wants 7 points from towns 3 festive games, chelt away on monday, bradford away next saturday and cobblers at home a week on monday. if town achieve that, even i will believe town are going up!! and also note chelt have only drawn 3 of their games. i think they are about to make that 4 . fs, coysbot, aab, ctrab
I'm furious that I can't go (sucks to be young enough to have to listen to misguided parents). Anyway I think an energetic 1-1 with Jacobson scoring, and crowd of 4900
you will have a life of trying to please family, at the moment it might be just your elders but over time there will be partner's parents and then your own offspring if you have any! Just enjoy it and as a wise person said to me take time to stand and stare.
We need to get something out of this game to stop Cheltenham getting away from us - a draw would be a great result for us. If we are serious about automatic promotion we must be able to stop the top three from beating us (as the top two did three out of four times last year - dont even get me started about Wycombe and their phantom third place). Swindon are a big danger to us - despite their novice manager making obvious mistakes like throwing his toys out of the pram every time they do not win - they look to have a very talented squad - and we may need to get ahead of say Southend to get into the top three. By the way, are the Football league ever going to enforce their own rules and take the salary cap seriously - it seems to me from the size of the squads and the wages being mentioned at Swindon and Crawley surely both these clubs must be in breach of this rule. Over to you Football league - after Notts County's flagrant breach of this rule when they won League 2 - is anything ever going to be done about this?
Cheltenham 1 - 2 Shrewsbury Collins, Wright Att: 4900 Let's hope our team are off of the mince pies and port this christmas.
yes it is a must win or draw game for town. let us look at the competition and their games- wombles v oxon hereford v vale shots v southend. looks a dead cert away win, but will it be crawley v gills this looks a home win but could be a draw maccs v rotherham morecambe v stanley cobbs v brewers gulls v swindon this one may give us a clue to how much of a threat swindon are. and they could be chelt v shrews the other games involve journey men clubs and relegation avoiders. but you never know 1 or 2 of them may come storming through or on fire. i doubt it so shrews take your chance and please get a result. fs, coysbot, aab, and ctrapab. finally a happy new year everybody, particulary graham turner and and the squad
4 players booked in 90th minute, some game. is everyone at cheltengam. where are you all aj one man show
I'm here. I've been spending Christmas with the extended family, but snook out to the radio to listen to the second half, and then on the computer to check on here!
Unfortunately I couldn't go & have spent half the afternoon up the Caradoc! Bloody windy.. Anyways, well done the Salop.
oh to be amongst those blue remebered hills again, hopefully end of april. it sounded a great game, perhaps someone who went will tell us all what flared up in the 90th minute and so many players booked. it would be nice to know how our 2 internationals played and why chelt had 60% of play for most of the game
I didn't hear the match, but the stats didn't read well. I notice in the BBC summary that morgan had two good chances at the end and both went straight to the keeper. He does that too often and needs to be on one on one practice for the forseeable future.
Intended on going as a spur of the moment thing, but was told it the game was all ticket for away fans.
