Guly is unlucky his lapse in concentration came in a televised game against our biggest rivals. If it had been against any other team, we might well have forgotten or not have even noticed - definitely have moved on. Though we expect any Saint player pulling on the shirt to automatically play that fixture with the passion it demands (and rightly so!), at the same time, it's probably harder for him to do so than any other player - he's from the other side of the world for a start, would never have heard of that fixture before he signed, and it's been so long since we faced them in the league that none of that team will have had any experience in playing it. Give them at least one game to adjust to hating them! For sure he is frustrating, but getting on his back is not going to do his confidence any good.

We are becoming dangerously close to having only one player who can put the ball in the back of the net. Lallana hasn't scored in a while, and Guly's run of solid form came to an end a while back - I for one am glad Guly took his chances of redemption: shows he cares.

I get just as frustrated as the rest of us (and was wanting him replaced with about half an hour to go today - shows how much I know!). He could have had a hatful today, but always wanted to take one touch too many - as someone else has pointed out in this thread, he requires space. And on the times today where we were attacking them like an away team, and outnumbering them in the final third, he squandered quite a few chances. And of course, doesn't help his cause that he can win two headers today up their end, but fail so dismally in the air at ours in the last fixture. But he's back, I feel - and a draw at Pompey that causes the grief that gives him the hunger today; and the goals from which give him the confidence to take into the next few games - could be a seriously valuable chain of events!

Guly does cover every blade of grass.I think you should focus purely on Guly in the next game, and you'll see that he gives 100%.Great work rate, shows great endeavour.Yes,he can't tackle to save his life and he can fade out of games sometimes but he tries ever so hard to play to his best and help the team perform well and win the game.Give the guy some credit that he deserves.

I never walk through the High Street. In fact, and it's probably awful to say this but, I never go into central Southampton by choice. I'm off to the Isle of Wight in a few days, via Red Funnel and I'll be making an extremely rare visit, whilst riding through.

However, to say that Southampton is full of mongs [don't like the description, but it's your word, so I'll use it] is overstating the case. You might as well say that most cities are full of mongs.

What do you mean "Maybe, just maybe some of his ideas may be on the right lines!!"?

Of course I am on the right lines. We are very, very lucky to have Guly believe me. He is a very good footballer.

Guly at home 8 goals in 12 games, class and no one can have a go at him being in the team even if he appears lazy.
Guly Away 1 goal in 11 games, the stats don't lie as people keep on saying he is Jekyll and hyde.

Even if people see him as lazy, 8 goals in 12 games is very good form. Even I say he looks lazy sometimes but don't complain that he's in the first team as he is getting goals.

Away from home he should start as a sub as CBK said he is a homer, he can't carry his form into his away games.

Not doubting he is a good player at all btw.

So we win, Pompey lose and other results go our way as well. You would never guess from the sour tone on here!
And what is the argument about? I can't find anyone who thinks Guly should be dropped or sold. Some want him dropped to the bench for away games and that's about it. Reading this thread, I have to say that you may have identified some candidates for the ignore function.

It doesn't occur to you that some fans might be right when they disagree with you, please tell me you are not a racist, and that there is another reason for your obsessive hatred of one of our classier players. He isn't lazy at all, sometimes a bit economic with his effort, but there isn't a better exponent of the one touch pass in the side. Watch the replays and just concetrate on his contribution alone, you may form a different opinion providing that your predjudice doesn't get the better of you.

To play the race card is kind of sad, it's his own opinion at the end of the day. People that use the race card at nearly every chance are ruining this country.
