HBA - Does Pardew mean to play him as an impact player or is he just wrong?

  1. Yes he's very frustrating at times, dribbling past two or three players very well but then losing the ball. Making good runs but deciding to carry on the run instead of passing ect.

    However since he's come back,

3 starts, set up a great chance at Citeh and almost scored, won us a pen at Man utd. It shouldn't have been a pen but he forced Ferdinand into making a slide challenge. In the same match played a good lob through ball over Manures defence and set up a chance but Ba would have done amazing to score, as it was a difficult chance to take. In the last two games, he's made immediate impact, changing our game, and we became more attacking minded. He set up Ba vs WBA and scored today.

Now the question we need to ask is, does he think HBA is better as an impact player or has he just got the whole thing wrong by playing Best instead of him?

HBA is frustrating, but he produces moments of magic that more often than not end up resulting in a Toon goal.

Does Silva start for city? YES
Does Modric start for Spurs? Yes

HBA can be as good as those so he has to start for us. Best has been woeful

I think Pardew wants to steady him back to the team, he doesn't wanna rush him back by starting week in week out which will probably lead to another injury.
When he is back to his 100%, I can see him as a starter and not an impact player, playing behind Ba.

The more he plays the more he will get sharper. This goal will give him great confidence and i'm sure Pardew will start him vs Liverpool. He is the best technical player at the club and I think a run of good games will give him belief to get back to his best.

I agree, Ben Arfa on his day can be world class. When he regains full fitness and gets his confidence back up, top 5 player in the premiership!!!

Why did you need to make another article, you could have just included this thought in the post match ratings (which is more or less what you did anyways).

In terms of this article though I think that Pardew is trying to get Best match fit as well as Ben Arfa as they are going to be playing together whilst ACoN is on. Ben Arfa is frustrating at times I agree, so is Best. I say stay with Best for now, he's got to score soon again...surely.

Sorry but Benny was woeful against Chelsea and made Shola look like Balotelli if you see what I mean... Benny's a good player but he's still far away from match fitness. He does show strokes of genius like today but is anonymous most of the time. If he can keep the ball better and make faster decisions on the ball then I'd start him.

I think Pardew was trying to get Best back up to speed for when Ba goes of to the ACN (at the cost of beating Swansea, and possible WBA). Obviously hasn't worked, time to start playing HBA and trying to pick up as many points as possible before the ACN, and then just hope for the best during it!

    1. Ben Arfa does not need to be playing every game in such a busy period after such a horrible injury.

    2. He's a luxury player and needs a strong base (midfield and defence) behind him. Recently we've had Perch & Simpson at CB and Vuckic & Gosling at CM.

Ben Arfa needs to play for me he can unlock defences, I don't see how Obertan gets so much time when he can give away stupid passes, and yet if Ben Arfa has a bad game he needs to start the next 5 games on the bench!!

The reason he hasn't been starting is due to his lack of match fitness which probably explains why he hasn't been so sharp but shown flashes of brilliance.

Ideally, we both need Best and Benny equally up to scratch by the time the ACoN comes a knocking.

A few more impact sub appearances is what I would have thought but I think it would be wrong if Pards didn't start with him against Liverpool

Once Demba goes to the ACON, Benny will be starting. Trust me on this.

Clever management. If we started him week in week out for the past 8 games he'd be ****ing crippled I bet.

Didn't Pardew say somewhere he was waiting for a more solid defensive base before introducing HBA. He should be starting next match now that we have our strong CM's back and a (hopefully) solid defence!
