...that I first set foot in The Valley, the vivid green of the pitch in stark contrast to the grey gloom of Winter. I watched a Charlton side, battered into almost complete submission by a rampant Norwich City, claw their way back from a seemingly impossible position to draw the game - unbelievably exciting. There's been ups and downs too numerous to mention since, but I've never once regretted my decision to become a lifetime supporter of this wonderful club. Best wishes to you all today, especially for a safe journey for all Addicks travelling to Yeovil, and let's hope the success we're experiencing this season under our bright and progressive new manager and board continues for many years to come. Not the first game I went to but the first game I remember vividly was a Friday night in September '76. Charlton 6 South Coast Club 2 Wood, Berry, Warman, Hunt, Giles, Curtis, Paddy, Killer, Flash, ooooooohhh Richy Bowman, Keithy P Played Soton off the park, went 3-0 up through Flash x 2 and Richy B, ref then gave Soton an ify pen (by the standards in those days) but Paddy scored almost from kick off so went in 4-1 up. Soton had players like Peach, McCallog, Channon & MacDougall playing for them at the time so top team. Second half Soton got a second goal, slightly against the run of play, through MacDougall and everybody in the ground thought "here we go again " but then killer did what he did best and scored two in the last 15mins I was very young (and wasn't sure I liked it) but did manage a beer on the way home
