A midwinter festival goes back many thousands of years..made sense to tag the Christian festival onto an existing one. In these days of electricity and central heating it's hard to visualize those long dark days of the past...good to have something to look forward to which also marked the beginning of longer days. However, winter seems to have moved..the worst is yet to come. On that depressing note...Happy Christmas.
Strange, but the older I get, the more I seem to resent the darker evenings. So I gave a little cheer the other day when the shortest day of the year was over. The following days have been longer, if only by a few seconds. The Sun is on it's way back..! Putting my BSce Environment hat on [it's pretty battered and dusty nowadays], the reason why it gets colder several weeks after the shortest day is due to something called thermal lag or sometimes seasonal lag. It's the same delay that gives us our warmest months in July, August, despite their being after the longest day on June 21st/22nd.
We had our own Santa Claus, he bought the Club! I am convinced he is still watching over us, little camera at the ready......... Seasons Greetings everyone, Monday cannot come quick enough for me.
Happy Christmas one and all . Looking forward to our next two home games and am quietly confident, is 50 points by the beginning of January too much to hope for?
Here's something to mull over. It's Christmas day, I'm watching the Aus v Ind 1st test, and SKY are advertising sex channels, during the end of over ad breaks. Unbelievable.
Yeah, I've been playing it, and talking about it for years. My two neices were young girls during it's early heyday and, after initially dismissing it out of hand as a (even then) 20 year+ veteran gamer, (Atari 2600 through Commodore Vic 20, 64, Amiga then Nintendo) I thought I should at least see what was making kids freak out over it. And I discovered what a deep game it really is. It has to be one of the most influentual games ever created. Many games owe their very existence to it. I rate it as highly as the FF, Zelda or Mario and Luigi series, to name but a few.
Yeah it's a great game.I had some pokemon games for gameboy when I was a little lad, even for gameboy, they were superb games!I used to watch the series on TV aswell, very good. Have you ever heard on the Angry Video Game Nerd?He basically reviews old games by replaying them on crappy consoles,it's very funny! His reactions to some of the gameplay is priceless, very funny indeed.
Been playing them on my laptop today using an emulator! The game play really is still unrivaled in the handheld market. It's definitely heavily influenced by the Final Fantasy games, but made more simplistic.
I loved the Pokemon cards int their heyday. Must have been 12 or 13 years ago now. Unfortunately my school banned them and they went out of fashion before I could get anything good. I have a friend who is a massive Pokemon geek. She plays a drinking game where she and her friends watch the TV show and drink when various events occur.
