According to this http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine...ewcastle-feature-smallest-spending-clubs-2011 I think Talk Sports headline is misleading, not to say wrong. So I've phrased the tile as a question, using my own take on TS figures. Assuming the figures are correct, it goes to show one way in which we are addressing our 'CL shortfall' this season. Some fans, led unsurprisingly by the jealous and bitter West Ham brigade, have been predicting financial problems/disaster for us ever since Harry took over. Quite a few were gleefully anticipating us to make a big loss for this financial year with no CL revenue. Here's one of many reasons why they are likely to be wrong, again. We may well make a loss, but not of the significant or damaging proportions as prophesied by some deluded anti-Spurs critics. Most/all of that loss, if it occurs, will be stadium and training centre-related, not Harry-related.
Levy always seems to have this policy of holding out for top dollar on transfer sales. Sometimes it works (Crouch, Palacios) Sometimes not. i.e. Bentley - to use one example. We also seem to lose out sometimes by trying to squeeze too hard on purchases. Reportedly, we could have had Leandro for somewhere around £15mm last summer. We refused to pay that sum, and now it looks like he'll go for around double that figure. So yeah, some good business - some not so good.
If you think about it, Harry is still trying to offload some crap from when he first arrived, Jenas and Bentley for a start are only on loan, so like piles, they'll return one day.
Cheers for replies guys Actually my headline was misleading - so both TalkSport and I are in the 'bad headline books' My title shouldn't include 'Summer' as it includes the Pienaar deal, for example, which was pre-summer.
