Good news If it had been the other way round, ie the United player elbowing someone, we wouldn't have heard the end of it on here.
While I agree we'd never hear the end of it if a united played elbowed some one, oh wait we still haven't. I don't think there was any maliciousness in Dempsy's challenge. He went up and used his arms to help get moment to head the ball and Jones came charging in to win the header. When Jones went off Dempsy came over to apologize.
Fair enough. However the challenge was still reckless. Eric's right still. Imagine if a Utd player had done it and like the Fulham match, done nothing; the ABU's would have been shouting and crying.
I dont think there was any malice in the challenge and phil jones is a tough enough lad to not be arsed, I'm just glad he is not injured, he will be our captain within 3 years
I tihnk you're bumhole is leaking^ Comparing Dempsey's challenge to Rooney's are we? I think one is an attempted assault and the other a challenge for the ball, and yes Gerrard did the exact same thing, it is a cowardly chicken**** act. There are hard football players and ones that are just hard when they are in the stadium protected by team mates, police and officials. Those are muppets
No. A player who is not a dirty player by nature can still commit a reckless and dangerous challenge that warrants a red card.
I agree on dangerous challenges, too easy to sucker punch a player that has eyes on the ball, to go with that intention before you go in for the challenge is the difference, Thatcher being the king, far worse than Rooney or Gerrard I must admit
I think people (commentators especially) go over the top with challenges. They call almost everything dangerous when the vast majority of challenges are just mistimed. With players being faster than they have ever been, the increased tempo of the game it's going to happen. But this day and age, I think it's easier to see the players that are "dirty" over the players that just aren't good at tackling.
I think he purposely elbowed Jones, a flailing arm is just that.Dempseys arm was at a 90 degree angle before it went back into Jones` face, which is not a natural jumping movement. Jones` influence on our recent games wont have gone unnoticed, it should be no surprise that he is targeted if anything he should prepare for some more of the same. http://watchhighlightsonline.blogspot.com/2011/12/video-dempsey-elbowed-jones-in-face.html
