The big shame of this world cup for me, is that in a normal world cup, that last Ghana Croatia game would be an absolute belter if only the top 2 went up, Croatia needing to go all out for a win to qualify and Ghana needing a point, as it is a point will mean both will likely progress and even if Croatia win, a small defeat by 1 goal and Ghana will likely progress too in 3rd, it's just demeaned the whole ****ing group stage
Agree
But also
England topping the group means theyll play cape verde/uruguay/saudi
Instead of portugal or colombia

Yeah....tho I see that as supporting my pointless world cup view.....how many **** pointless knockout ties will there be in the first knock out round? Just extra games for the sake of extra games for me

easy after a dodgy performance to start picking apart whos not there, but did highlight a lack of creativity, a lot of our attacking options built around speed, directness and a lack of somebody to pick out a pass against a deep lying team.
Wharton/Palmer/ even Trent Alexander would have been useful to come on, but cant change that now
maybe a bit of a reality check that our options are behind other teams, but as mentioned above theres always a crap draw, even in the tournaments weve reached finals.
its a long tournament, and need to peak later not now, wasnt a lot to get excited about though, i fell asleep around 80 minute mark and woke up in injury time, probably says a lot.
i didnt think Ghana where as bad as people pointed out before game, physically strong side, almost bullied one or two of ours at times.

Since 2006
No world cup winner has won every game at the group stage

I think this highlights the main problem with not taking one of Foden/Palmer. I understand Tuchel wanted to take a squad that worked both interpersonally and on the pitch, but you also need players to magic moments out of nowhere.

Who's on the bench other than Rashford and Saka (who really should be starting fitness aside) that you are happy can do that? Not Toney, not Henderson. Rogers probably, Eze maybe? I know Palmer has been in poor form but he really is someone that can just do something from nowhere to help unlock a defence.

Palmer is the one for me that should have gone instead of Henderson .
I mean we already have Rice and Anderson .

Ghana showed us how City could play in the Premier and pick up points against the Big Guns, ableit with a few more incisive fast breaks. And whoever played right back for them would be a good upgrade on the current occupant.
