I’ve long said I’d sell every one of our young players anyway so I’m not too arsed. All of them may prove good/ great in the future and I’d say he’s the one with the highest ceiling but we just don’t have the time to wait after the seasons we’ve had. So far - Savinho aside - I back every single one of RDZ’s targets; Prem proven players who in theory should come straight into the side and immediately improve us:

I’d want at least £30m for Bergvall though.
£20m-£25m for Gray.
£15m-£20m for Tel.
Bag of chips for Odobert.
Odebert has not had a chance to get his career off the ground with us yet , just before his ACL the few games we saw from him I felt that he was growing in confidence , I hope he gets a chance , to start I'm not sure but coming on with 20 mins to go against a tiring team he could be a benefit

I just don’t see anything him in to be honest. He’s part of this wave of footballer where if you watched highlights on YouTube you’d think he was the second coming of Ronaldinho but watch him over 90 minute matches and he barely impacts games, he often does a nice bit of skill but then runs into a second defender or wastes a pass. This is exactly why I’m dead against Savinho because I feel he’s from the same bracket.

I think Romano said on a podcast that we’re interested in Gakpo, not the first time his name’s been linked. Would 100% take him, instant upgrade at LW.

Rashford also being linked but from a random source. We won’t pay his £40m release clause though.

and if you signed Gakpo a sizeable chunk of our fanbase would be very happy .
Personally i think Gakpo while definitely not top notch he is fine if a bit one dimensional . He got loads of stick last year but people overlook that the previous season there was lots of rotation at LF where as last season the main cover was a promising kid so he played over 52 games for us last season

Yeah I’ve noticed he’s not the most popular with you guys. Outside looking in I’ve often felt he’s a decent goal threat and our LW is basically a black hole post-Sonny. He’d be a sizeable upgrade on what we have and looking at other LW targets like Savinho or Summerville, I’d take Gakpo all day long.

you are truly a master of understatement .
i just view him as a solid PL player who in the parlance "do you a job" . Should be better in the air though considering his height and his finishing aint the best. Helps if your RF attacks the far post when Gakpo moves towards the box

We used to have an expert in that role! But sold him to Palace in January!

If Bergvall is of interest to Utd could this happen, I would prefer to see him go abroad but a big part of a Rasford deal I can live with

The problem is that we are overstocked with players who all think they are good as an 8. It was pretty clear that Bergvall was being pushed closer to a 10 but he made no impression whatsoever further up the pitch.
Bergvall worked in Ange's system as that one or even required ball-carrying 8s in the midfield three, so there was plenty of room for Bergvall, Sarr and Gray, especially with additional European games

Frank's system, on the other hand, needed the CMs to do a lot of quick passes...and since we didn't have those, he overcompensated by focusing solely on the wings (or to be more accurate, the right flank) and he moved both Bergvall and Sarr up the pitch

Which leads to the real problem: as revealed by Ali Gold back in February, Frank would talk with the leadership group daily but the rest of the squad would regularly go days without any one-on-one time with Frank, which in Bergvall's case was especially problematic because if he wanted to retool him as a 10 that requires regular feedback and Frank wasn't offering it

...while in comparison, Sarr had less issue with his new role given he was a high-pressing 8 under Ange, so he had less issue adapting to his role as a 10 in Frank's system as he was playing a broadly similar role

The more I hear and read about Frank, the more I'm convinced that he collapsed under the weight of the pressure that comes with managing a much bigger club, very early on.

So many of the things that went wrong came from him seeing genuine flaws in the squad we'd seen play out for large chunks of Angeball, but his solution broke the team rather than fix the issue

The most obvious is thinking the best way to avoid our midfield being overrun was to set up in a way where we wouldn't lose the ball in high xG areas, hence the prioritising Kudus and Porro as an attacking outlet while pretty much banning through balls so opponents couldn't regain possession and push through the centre...which made us far too easy to set up against, so doubling up on Kudus snuffed out most of our forward momentum and we wouldn't regain that playing through the centre as the tactical plan wasn't set up to have players making runs for that

New challenge <laugh>
Been crap or injured for the past 12 months ... if he wants out remind him to not let the door hit his arse on the way out
Bit harsh? Run himself into the ground when he was the nearest thing to a fit 10 ans looked decent for his age. I understand if you don't want more time on the bench, he gave his all when he could. If he is off, I wish him all the best.

Perhaps the single biggest problem with Gray and Bergvall is in fact no fault of their own.

Injuries forced them to play in multiple roles across two seasons. Archie in particular has had an almost comical Spurs career so far, featuring at CM, CB, RB, LB, LWB and AM.

They simply haven't learned their game yet.
The fact that Gray was signed as a Hojbjerg regen, yet last season he was playing more of a Fabregas role, adds to the confusion
