I guess that those 861 missing Californians really hated Trump so much that they had to miss the compelling battle between two world football superpowers, Qatar and Switzerland.
Oh, and note the crashed attendance at Metlife Stadium. All 0 people are really happy that they stuck it to Trump!

What's everyone thoughts on the Yanks surrender deal. Has to be one of the biggest L's in American history?
I don't disagree. What's the point in having the world's most potent military if when push comes to shove the politicians are afraid to do the right thing.
I like some of the things Trump does, but others not so much. In this case, the ridiculous bravado followed by the recognition of what was obvious (the inevitable "closure of the strait") followed by his unwillingness to use the US navy etc. to take control- whatever the cost- has just handed Iran a great, and unnecessary victory and emboldened our enemies.
Very disappointed.
Did he just think they would fold like Venezuela when their supreme leader was killed/removed? Did he learn nothing from the past dealings with Hamas, or Hezbollah or even Iran?
He clearly does not understand the mind of the religious fanatic- people who do not view reality through a mercantile transactional lens.

You mean the left in general then<whistle> trump may have shot himself in the foot here ...but will any peace deal with the mullahs ever succeed whilst Israel exists? Answers on a pinhead

It's hard to see a way forward, but then it always was.
The situation with the ME oil and Iran was always a bit like the MAD scenario between the US and the Soviets, but MAD doesn't work if the Iranians don't give a damn about their people and the Iranian GDP and are willing to let the world burn if necessary.
You'd hope that alternative pathways would open up to bypass the Strait, but that is no longer the sole problem.
As long as Iran has the ability to take out the oil fields in the ME by targeting the well heads, the pumping stations, the refineries and the pipelines etc. and is OK with Kharg Island being demolished then what can we do?
Yeah, Venezuela is now open for business, but the Europeans, other than the Russians and the Norwegians, seem determined to keep their hydrocarbons in the ground, whatever the cost, and the Canadians seem determined to become Europe. Venezuela is roughly equivalent to Alberta, so that will be a wash.
We had an opportunity. We blew it.

This is because it`s much "greener" to buy our goods from someone else and ship it around the world on tankers with big diesel engines than mine it ourselves :emoticon-0148-yes:
