I think that Sikhs wearing ceremonial swords or in this case a larger replica....should be banned when they are outdoors amongst the public......during these times of knife crime.

These two Sikhs where UK born.....but should that stop us from deporting them .....we don't need to spend £thousands paying for them to be locked away in this country.

There was an occasion awhile back that a women wearing a cross in a work place was deemed an offence.....I bet that a ceremonial sword is a much more dangerous weapon than a small neck worn cross.

I must admit I had no idea they were allowed to carry a knife no matter how small but that has nothing to do with the murder.

It took the police 20 minutes to get to the scene after the 999 call. Had a call been made for an ambulance, who knows what the outcome might have been, which makes the perpetrators conduct even worse.

You can’t start deporting people born in the UK. Who would take them for a start. Why would any country? I don’t know where you got that idea from but its impracticable as well as immoral.

There’s an absolutely excoriating two-page opinion piece about Trump’s War by Niall Ferguson (historian with senior-fellow positions at both Stanford and Harvard) in today’s Times.

I’ll just quote one phrase. Never in the field of human conflict has so much drivel been spouted by one individual”.

Been watching Channel 4's....coloured version of the 1966 World Cup final.

One of those...Where were you on that day moments.

We had just been married two years and expecting our daughters birth in September....we had gone over to Mrs Plym's parents to watch the game.....Mrs Plym and her parents weren't really football fans.....but most people watched it.....they had a quality roll fronted door flashy telly....a big screen....18 or 20 inch (or maybe bigger) black and white job nice bit of furniture when the front doors where closed.

Watching it all over again I wasn't too impressed by the quality of football....some poor passing and terrible shooting by both sides.....at the time of course Alf Ramsey's England where the bees knees.....blessed with a Russian linesman who maybe hadn't forgotten WW2.......one of the goal areas cut up badly and reminded me of some of the quagmires that football used to be played on in those days.....plus the ghastly dubbined heavy boots we had to wear in those days.

I'm shocked.

Ex pornographer involved in historic improper conduct? Surely not.

A father who ordered a parenting magazine for his young family in 2007 has finally received it 19 years later.

Paul Edwards,52...said he bought a copy of Mother and Baby while his daughter was just 18 months and his son was due to be born three months later.

But the parcel never arrived....until Friday when it dropped through the letter box with a message from Royal Mail apologizing...."for any inconvenience caused".

Edwards...whose children are now aged 18 and 20 and at university...said he found it "just bizarre".

BBC News...07/06/2026.

I reckon he got away lightly there......they could have charged 2026 postal rates instead of what was charged in 2007.

US President Donald Trump abruptly walked out of an interview with NBC after being repeatedly challenged on several claims by the shows presenter Kristen Welker.

During the interview....which aired on Sunday's Meet The Press...the president claimed both the current primary elections in California and the 2020 presidential election were "rigged".

When pressed for evidence on California's vote by Welker...he said..."All I have to do is look...and listen".

After the presenter replied "that's not evidence"...Trump accused the media of being "crooked"...before ending the interview..."sorry...lets call it quits because I've had enough".

Much of the interview involved Welker questioning Trump over the conflict with Iran...with him insisting the US needed to act to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and that it would not be an endless war".

We're there for a few months and the "threat is largely over"...he said.

BBC News...08/06/2026.

When Trump say's...."the threat is largely over".....does that mean he is getting bored with it.....and the little matter of "the Strait of Hormuz" has been shelved for someone else to deal with......he is far more interested in becoming the "poster boy" for the World Cup and figuring out how the USA can win it.....and stop other from being "crooked" and stopping it happening.....if they don't win it will he throw down his "Peace Prize" that they gave him in a tantrum ?

Our view to the west has been ideal.....clear view of the sky with wonderful sunsets visable from our rear windows and beyond our garden.....the main road must be something like 300 yards away in that direction....a cul-de-sac of bungalows and houses in another road beyond them could just be seen at their roof level before reaching the main road.

Tuesday morning I was going along this main road and ended up in a traffic jam because of temporary traffic lights......as I eventually drove through these light.....it was obvious the reason for them was a very large artic lorry with a huge mobile phone mask onboard.....it was longer than the trailers length and had been escorted there by police cars......I though no more of it until about 5.30 pm that evening...when I looked in that direction.

A reasonable sunset with nice cloud patterns where on display.....AND in the middle of this view was for the first time this mobile mast sticking well higher than the roof tops in the distant........it looked bleddy ugly.....lots of bits and pieces on it plus boxes of various sizes.....and in a boring matt grey finish.

We had not heard anything about this mask being assembled there......surely the people on the main road had been informed in advance....did they query it being installed outside their properties ?......it must be a disaster for them because how big it is.....the base diameter must be at least six foot across plus a row of control boxes around it....at the top the diameter wasn't that much smaller than at ground level because of all the bits and pieces attached to it....must be over 100ft tall....maybe 150....seeing how easy we can see it at a distance of something like 300 yards.

Six months back we had been informed about a mask going up nearer....but there was so many queries about it that it didn't happen......so this could be the same mask...but a little further away.

It surprised me that we needed one.....the mobile signal and internet connection around here are excellent.

Since this original post awhile back a FOURTH communications tower has been erected within a mile of here....two now on side roads....I swear blind that my Junghans radio controlled watch started going wrong when the first nearby tower was erected....it is always an hour fast and at night it goes completely haywire......also my mobile phone is doing weird things and needed my grandaughter to remove many websites that seemed to be taking it over........and also the desk top computer has been doing strange things...... I now have three browser sights that will not allow not606 to be used (for not606)....stating that it is not secure and coming up with the bot situation (robot) and I am unable to prove that I am not a robot......every other site is fine.

I mistakenly linked to the new Not606 app. I don’t know who’s hosting it but it’s absolutely terrible.

Half-screen adverts for ****e you have no interest in whatsoever. Trying to clear the adverts usually bombs you out of the page you wanted to look at.

It’s a disaster area.

I can only get not606 on one browser.......can't get it on google anymore.....being told that it isn't a secure website.....but I go back onto google for everything else.

100,000 FAILED ASYLUM SEEKERS STILL HERE.

More than 100,000 failed asylum seekers are still living in the UK because they have not yet been deported.....the Sunday Express reports....The paper adds that at least a quarter of these ...more than 26,000 people have been in this country for at least a decade despite losing their cases.

And some 2,000 of them first sought sanctuary as long ago as 2010...Home Office figures show.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philip said...."This makes a mockery of immigration law.....They need to be kicked out immediately".

Sunday Express...14/06/2026.

Does anyone else remember Monty Python’s “Tax On Foreigners Living Aboad” policy?

Well it’s on its way back.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czx5ne278x8o

It’s just what industry doesn’t need - another tax.

The best person for the job and less government interference is what it does need. It may play well with the more Neanderthal voter but it’s a really, really dumb idea.

The "major oak" in Sherwood Forest is estimated to be 1,200 years old and produced no leaves for the first time this year....so it seems to be now dead.

Legend has it that the outlaw Robin Hood used its hollow trunk to hide from the Sheriff's men.

At least the tree was real....but Robin Hood is another story.....where's maid Marion when you want her.

I heard on the news this morning that a contributory factor is the number of people who've got close to it over the years. All those feet have packed the earth down around it so that insufficient water has been reaching the roots.

I don't understand why Robin Hood needed to hide. He was of course a fictional character. That being so, why did this particular tree get picked out?

I didn't know Robin Hood was this dapper.

His mates look quite uncouth by comparison. He also seems to holding what I take to be his bow in an unfortunately provocative position, especially accompanied as he is by a lady.

Is he suggesting that he has other "strings" to his bow.....,...<doh>

Two trains in collision with a fatality tonight on the line I used to commute into St Pancras on. Sobering thought although not the specific services I used.

These were trains travelling in the same direction which have presumably come together at a junction. I’d have been on a faster through train from the East Midlands at 100mph plus.

Crash near Elstow just outside Bedford.....used to go to school there when I was 12/13.....near RAF Cardington..where my father was stationed.

Ah the balloon sheds! I know it. We lived in a village a few miles the other side of Bedford……. Our daughter was born in Bedford hospital…. Although she’s Cornish by paternal blood!
