I don’t know about any of that that but wasn’t commenting on it anyway
Are Africans really poorer now than 25 years ago?
Depends where.. Africa is a big place..

Some South Africans definitely poorer, as are Zimbabweans. Equatorial Guineans also. Tanzania, Kenyans and Botswanans doing much better. I don't know much about North, East or central Africa to have a sensible opinion.

A lot of the money has been misappropriated, but there's not been famines of the same magnitude since live aid, so donations have worked to a certain degree - we don't see so many horrific news reports of starving children with distended stomachs any more thankfully.

I'd wager that the mobile phone has pulled more Africans out of poverty than aid though.

Call me suspicious but in some ways it probably doesn't suit a Countries narrative to highlight the abject poverty of African Countries when they've slashed their overseas aid budget?

What are you talking about?
Are you asking, for some odd reason, how much I personally give to charity?
Not at all I didn’t question your charitable profile at all , that’s your business . But a few posters supported your earlier post . It’s very easy to expect ‘rich’ people to give lots to charity the same as it’s very easy to expect Acun to spend his money ( assuming he does ) it’s always easy to expect to spend other people’s money for them . What I was saying as I have no opinion of Musk at all is if he is greedy then he should questioned , but no more than any other individual who cares only for himself . I know of one comfortably off and one quite wealthy amateur golfers who I know do or pay nothing to any charity but buy all sorts of expensive stuff to ‘impress’ others - it’s very shallow .I avoid one of them altogether these days and barely tolerate the other for that reason. I am not a saint but like you I guess I do my bit . The corporate world is not the philanthropic one it used to be I am afraid .

I know what you mean.
I don’t actually expect Musk to do anything.
I just think the system can’t be right if any one person can amass that amount of wealth (I dislike him for other reasons than whether he is charitable or not)
