The only PL clubs who have any money...real money to spend will be looking at top class talent, not developing kids. The poster who mentioned clubs like Newcastle, Villa and Spurs. For example, They can take there pick from unwanted talent @ Manchester City. Newcastle are reported to be after Tomkins from West Ham and an Ajax defender. Villa circleing over Blackburns best players and Tottenham look like there budget will be needed to get Gary Cahill out of Bolton.

IMO, the time when Stewart will be well sort after by the much bigger clubs would be if we were doing well in the PL. i am also of the mind that man utd will have a first option buy on the lad.

With us currently going well in the Championship I can't see us selling any of our first team stars to a Championship/promotion rival. We may have more of a problem if a premiership team comes knocking but with Stewart only just back from injury, a dip in Chester's form and us staying largely under the radar until now we may well keep our first team squad intact.

 

TOP END POST - COULD NOT AGREE MORE.! What irks me most is the small minded Hull City fans who think that 3m is enough ? ffs, Stewart will be a 10-20m player within the next 4 years if not sooner, imo. As you said, the Allams are business people and the carrott of £80 quid is far more enticing than 3m. I would love to be at Allam Towers if anyone from lesta is daft enough to make a bid ? Unless Stewart demands to leave (which I doubt he will) you've got no chance. We'll quote you a ridiculous price and NP isn't the sort of manager who'll spend big on players.

 

What's the difference whether the rumour is true or not. When you have a good young squad of players you are going to get interest from other clubs - it goes with the territory.
AP and the Allams will already know how they intend to deal with any offers and it will depend on the fee offered and whether a suitable replacement player(s) is available.
The business of a well run football club is fluid, people leave as new ones come in. At the end of the day you just have to trust the judgement of those in charge to make the right decisions.
Personally I don't think Stewart will go because first; the club will put a huge price on him and second; I think all the signs suggest he's happy here, but if he does go you can bet that Barmby already has a replacement(s) earmarked.

also i read in the yorkshire post that stewart is really enjoying working under Nick Barmby now that Pearson has gone. most of them have all come out and said the same. i wonder how many of them would prefer to work under NP again instead of NB ? not many i would guess.

yes that was an interesting interview John and glad i am not the only one who took it that way. assuming that we sell OJ for 500-600k that would help fund any possible Sharp deal. it may also boil down to what billy sharp actually wants to do and where he wants to go. City may add on a PL bonus payment if we got there into the deal.

 

how much did we get for np, and are we assuming that will go towards players
