What REALLY hacks me off is that races like Spa have to alternate and other circuits have to modernise pits paddock etc .
Yet because F1 were desperate for Vegas to be a success that ( from the bbc ) -
F1 was so determined for the race to become a success that it invested $500m in buying a plot of land in the centre of Las Vegas on which it constructed a new pit building and paddock.

FIA declares Red Bull best F1 engine as it makes upgrade call
The Race understands Red Bull's engine has been declared F1's best under the new development system - meaning Mercedes and Ferrari will get upgrade opportunities

Isack is under investigation as Red Bull worked in the car during the redflag, when questioned they stopped and reverted the car back to original spec but it's been referred to the stewards!
Could mean Oscar gets 3rd and Alonso gets 10th!

Not Hadjars fault , but cannot see him getting away with no penalty .
The team broke the rules , the fact they got caught and put it back as it was is irrelevant imho .

On the one hand, massive congratulations to RedBull Powertrains, it’s an incredible feat for their first engine, up against a number of experienced competitors. On the other hand, sometimes F1 really does shoot itself in the foot handing an advantage to a team with an already dominant car.
I agree re Red Bull, they have created an amazing feat.
From what I can gather FIA haven't actually released the public statement on ADUO! From what I have read it's purely about the ICE part of the PU but any development money and dyno time can be spent on any part of the PU! The FIA have data that we don't have access to, so I'm hoping they will explain how they have come to their conclusions but it seems like they are purposely not going to go into the details of the criteria so no one 'games' the system. Talk about not being transparent!!!
Hopefully in todays statement they will explain how the upgrades will work i.e. will they be allowed to apply the update to all PU in their pool, used or fresh, just the fresh PU - I'm assuming teams have fresh PUs.
I have a feeling this is going to be a mushroom situation!

And the reason is because tomorrow Alex takes the record for most race starts for Williams from Nigel Mansell .

Hopefully they’re not successful. If the argument is, “it’s not fair if you can’t undo it for everyone” then that rather ignores the fact that time penalties are anyhow an inherently unfair construct and the fact that if you can make something right you should, even if you can’t do it for everyone.
There is a lot wrong this season. Why allow some to upgrade and not others? Too much outside manipulation. Fundamentally wrong even if the team you most support benefits.
Setting the wrong speed trap is a flaw of the organisers, hits everybody. So the FIA are both incompetent and manipulative but I suppose we knew that anyway.

I get that after Honda and the tokens system last time they had to try and do better this time. I think that hiding the evaluation methods has made it much less transparent as to why certain PU manufacturers have been given allowances to improve. I understand why FIA didn't tell anyone the criteria as some would have 'played' the rules but keeping the rules secret has just confused things.
Also what I don't understand is the whole catchup improvements allowances are based only on ICE performance (presumably dyno data from the teams) but they are allowed to develop any part of the PU - including batteries, control electronics, mguk!
So in theory make a slightly down on power ICE unit or just map it badly and you get more development on the peripherals and next time still have an ICE that's below par so get more development money and dyno time?
