Out of contract at end of season and he won't sign a new one. Would be a great cut price buy. I can't believe the amount of people who want us to sign Billy Sharp for £3million. He is a great player but that is way too much for him, we need to ensure we don't go back down the silly transfers of Brown/Duffen.
Maynard a cut price buy ? Never. Thats shocking news - dont tell olm. In saying that the form Maynard has shown of late they will be lucky to get a million for him now. No doubt that Lesta and Soton will be sniffing around him. Maybe Lesta will offer Bristol Beckford as part of the deal ?
We offered 7M in the summer it got turned down Someone who works for the mirror had tweeted that we are after Cameron Stewart. I think about 3M seems fair but with the relationship between the clubs not very good i expect we may got told a stupid price
Nothing linking us to him, but he has been put on the transfer list. I just think if they are looking for money back on him before his contract is up and we are after a striker then he could be a good cheaper option to Billy Sharp. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11726/7391529/Robins-put-Maynard-up-for-sale
that gutter paper ? NP has a better chance of getting Messi. Cameron Stewart wont being be leaving Hull City anytime soon and if he did it would be for a PL team. Daily Mirror indeed. lol. not even a good peace of wum-ming
As far as Lesta are concerned a straight swap with Bristol looks an obvious deal. Maynard for Beckford. Assuming that is that Beckford fancies Bristol ?
Aside from anything Pappa Allam might do, I would be amazed if Cameron Stewart ever wanted to go to a club like Leicester. With all due respect (none) Cam is far to good for a Club of that stature. Now if a Newcastle or a Villa or a Tottenham came a calling it would be a different matter.
Slate it as much as you like but the Mirror has been head and shoulders above any other national when it comes to a City scoop in the last 3 years. They 100% definitely have someone giving them inside info on us. And if we were offered £3m for Cam we'd take it. He cost us £300k from memory and that's an astonishing profit in 1 year.
I can't see Bristol City getting anywhere near Beckfords wages so I cant see a straight swap happening
Nigel shot himself in the foot there. About three weeks before the move to Leicester came up he was being interviewed by Radio Humberside, and they asked a question regarding squad value - someone gave a price for Cameron Stewart, and as I remember he corrected them with a much higher price. If we putting money into our own promotion bid though, you can guarantee that any sales to potential promotion rivals would be rejected out of hand. If a big bucks PL side came in, I can't see us blocking him - but Papa Allam I doubt would sanction a championship sale.
Am I alone in wondering what the Allams are going to do regarding our players, should cheque books start flapping in January? I'd not be surprised if Nick Barmby is waiting to see too... Are we going to be a club with promotion prospects, or just a club that buys cheap and sells at a profit?
that rumour has been around for ages like many others. luckily the silly season ends soon as the window opens up. thank goodness. interesting that NP has binned 4 of Svens signings already.
glad you think that about the mirror. i prefer to yorkshire post to the gutter press. 3m for Stewart ? no chance and not to another championship club. the cost long term to city would be far more than 3million quid. also, i reckon NB will walk away if any of our stars are sold. i would not blame him either.
The Allams are businessmen, and will want to make profit where possible. But Allam Marine didn't get to be the size it is by short term decisons. If Stewart was sold to Leicester, there would be no point in a single extra signing in January. We are where we are because of the squad, and the Allams know that. They'll be looking at the potential £80m that comes with promotion, which, as it stands were in with a good shout of. Cam is not out of contract, we don't need to sell. We would probably get more for him in the Summer anyway, if we don't go up. We need to stop this small club mentality, of thinking all our players would jump ship to the bigger boys. We are one of the big clubs now, and we're playing like we mean it. There is no logical reason to assume we are suddenly becoming a selling club. Even at £3m. The Bi-polar nature of this board is crazy. Some threads think we're buying players for £3m, others we're selling....
