Hmmm.
So Ross still wants a 2yr deal (understandable) but Saints want to use the 1yr extension option (understandable). Lawyers on both sides are arguing it. If we want him to stay, we might have to give him the 2nd year...

Dragan Solak speaking to Adam Blackmore today:

We are not in the Premier League, where we hoped to be. But we still have done absolutely great work this season to show that we are ready to play top level football. I hope that we can pick up from there and continue this next season.

When I think about everything, I'll use a very simple parallel: I think about my family. I love Southampton and as long as I am at the helm, I consider Southampton to be my family.

If your family, your son or daughter, they do something wrong, I would never try to help them to get away with it. But if they are willing to accept that they did do something wrong, if they paid their price, then what else can you do? It's still your family and you're not going to disregard that you have a son or a daughter because they made a mistake and did something really wrong in their life.

We accept that we did wrong.

We will learn from this, we will make sure that we never, ever again repeat that. But after that, we accept it and we move on. Obviously now, I am going to do everything I possibly can to repair and make the damage less and to try to even build on this so that we emerge as a better, stronger and more respectful club.

Yeah I'm not sure what I think about this one. It's understandable to want 2 years but if ever a player owed a club it's Ross Stewart. I'm sure if he tears something in Scotland's first World Cup game he'll be more than happy to accept an automatic extension.

Got caught out activating the 1 year contract extension clause for LND by being kicked out of the play off final and the clause needing to be activated within 5 days of the final game. Still trying to come to an agreement with Ross, expect that’ll come after the WC as sounds a bit messy, unexpected side effect of the spy gate mess. Bree offered a new contract. We want to sign another no.10 to compete with Azaz. Otherwise it will just be replacing players we sell. Sounds good to me!

Be interesting to see if he is willing to risk playing potentially 5 or 6 games knowing that if he gets badly injured, he wont be getting paid next season.

At least if he accepts the year extension then he knows he is fine for at least another season.

Plus he owes!

Give him the 2 years. I think Larin and Ross have shown that alternating they will be fresh and gets the goals for us to be successful

I’d be happy to give Ross a 2 year contract.

If we go up and feel we don’t need him the year after he’s got a loan or sell value (particularly as if we go up he probably did well this coming season)

Or we don’t go up and he’s still useful the year after

Only read the echo version so far and not listened but thought that came across much better than the one the other day.

We all wanted Solak to front up over this and fair play to him as he has.
Yeah, after listening to the Spygate segment alone I felt he addressed the matter far better than the other day

Who was that guy based in Russia we were after last summer? Maybe back in for him

Spertsyan. He’s rumoured to have interest from the Saudi League this summer. After the saga of last summer and how complicated that one seems to be, I think it was only likely to happen now had we got promoted. Be interesting to see who we do go for though, as one of the others we went for was Rudoni who has obviously just got promoted with Cov. I’m guessing it won’t be another big money player though and more of an up and comer.
