I was starting to think we could be seeing a switch up after the van Hecke links. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for having good depth but I really can’t see Senesi and van Hecke leaving their clubs that have both just gotten into Europe to join us in a sort of squad capacity role. Assuming Romero does leave it still leaves us van de Ven and I think RDZ was quoted saying something along the lines of Micky being the best left sided defender in the league so it’s safe to say he sees him as a key part of his back line. Danso is too reliable to be a 4th choice CB too, next season if we only play with two CBs, the fourth choice will barely feature at all (cue injury jokes). Yet if we play with three, he’ll be first in line to replace anyone injured or underperforming and likely to still get plenty of minutes.
Factor in as well that we don’t genuinely know if Kulu’s gonna return and there’s been little said on a return date for Kudus yet, they’re the only two wingers worth their salt in this squad and so I think it’s very possible we see a back three formation if all these deals actually go through.
Lining up with something like:
New GK
van Hecke, Senesi, van de Ven
Porro, Bentancur, Palhinha/ New CM, Robertson
Maddison, Savinho
New ST
No reason why they could they couldn’t be the starting pair.
VdV is decent but wouldn’t surprise me if De Zerbi benched him according to the data (which Spurs seem to be heavily leaning into)
They’re still contracted to Bournemouth and Pool respectively until 30th June so we may have to wait til then to announce them. The window doesn’t officially open til the 15th either.

van de Ven looked a lot better when RDZ came in though and like I said I’m pretty sure there’s a quote somewhere of RDZ saying van de Ven’s the best LCB in the league or something along those lines so I’d be surprised if he wasn’t a key part of the defence.

Could still end up leaving which wouldn’t massively surprise me.
I doubt we’d let both starting CBs leave, could be wrong though.
There were reports saying he’d be open to signing a new deal under De Zerbi if we stayed up a month or so back.
Maybe van de Ven stays and we make a surprise sale of Danso if we do stick with two starting CBs? Good, solid defender but not a ball player that De Zerbi likes.

With youngsters being loaned out and Romero and Dragusin sold. That would be enough numbers with cover for injuries and everyone should get enough minutes even without Europe

Yeah it’s more than enough, it’s possibly even overkill without Europe tbh, especially when you look at how little Dragsuin’s played in the last 7-8 weeks as the 4th choice CB.
That’s why I’m thinking we could go with three at the back. I really don’t see van Hecke or Senesi leaving their clubs after the seasons they’ve had to take on a rotational spot here if we are sticking with two starting CBs, especially Senesi as there’s been about 3-4 other clubs that have made him an offer.
I ain’t complaining though, quality in depth is something we sorely lack. Whether it’s 2 or 3 starting CBs, we’ll have good options after Romero’s likely departure. A rare time the club’s actually used its brain.

Van Hecke and Senesi would have had assurances they would start most games. Actually think 3421 suits our squad.
When Kudus returns he can play as a 10 also and dare I say Mikey Moore who id love to see suceed at Spurs.
Yeah definitely suits it at the moment with the injuries we still have, assuming all of these signings go through of course. Just wish we targeted someone different to Savinho, tired of these all skill and no idea types.
I think Moore should have another season away, somewhere like Holland would be a decent place to build on last season. Realistically he’s not ready to be starting any/ many games in the Prem, far better to get another season of 30+ games behind him.
Lankshear’s the current academy youngster that I’d like to see in the squad next season, sell dumb and dumber, bring in a top striker and have Lankshear as the understudy.

I know Spurly will hate me for saying it but I’d take the money and run.
I think he’s better than Odobert but I still don’t really rate him and I’m not sure he’ll turn out the player we’d like him to become. I could easily be wrong though and he’ll be the second coming of Sonny but we currently don’t have the time to wait for it at the moment. We’ve been a graveyard for youth as it is over the last decade but the predicaments we’ve found ourselves in the last couple of seasons mean we need players who’ll impact the games right now, not in 2-3 years time. We need the Robertson’s, Senesi’s and van Hecke’s. Then if we sort ourselves out we can start investing in youth again and hope for better outcomes.
With Spurs injury history then 2 good options for each position is definitely needed even without European football.
I'm quite surprised he sold his stake so quickly, and at a time when its value is presumably at the lowest point it's been in a decade.
