I said to Ben at the weekend, can you think of a goal Darlow has directly cost us in the league? I can’t, could be wrong but they must be very rare and, if that’s the case he’s done his job well.

I know you said league but I only remember the **** up in the cup at Sheffield Wednesday, he was a bit flappy for an Arsenal corner at ER and although it sounds really picky, once he's guessed the right way, he should have saved the Sunderland penalty at ER. Throw in a few lapses with the ball at his feet and if think that's his lot this season. For every small mistake I've mentioned there have been genuine world class saves which I didn't realise he had in his locker.

Give him a 2 year deal for stability as you say and try and get a replacement brought in whilst we have the "Darlow insurance".

That’s exactly why I said league :emoticon-0148-yes: You’re right about the Sunderland penalty though, the one that probably cost us a direct point although we should have already had that game well won by then.

The non- penalty on struijk is one of the official VAR mistakes from that game too :emoticon-0183-swear

Modern football, modern balls, dirty tactics blocking keepers. Expected to ping 5 a side passes about to beat the press.

They all make mistakes.

Darlow has been a pleasant surprise. He knows how to make a save look good but he’s made some genuinely top class ones. Definitely ended the season in the plus column and extending his contract is a no brainer for me, while we search for a long term number 1/competition.
