Abraham could join Leeds on one condition
It has emerged that Tammy Abraham is prepared to leave Aston Villa this summer should Leeds United or Sunderland present him with a guaranteed starting role next season. The England international re-joined Villa in January for approximately £21 million, but the media are suggesting that he is open to a move if either club can assure him regular first-team football. Villa Park officials have indicated a willingness to sanction a sale, providing the money is right.
Leeds have emerged as the most persistent suitors, though the club is yet to make formal contact. The Yorkshire side previously explored a deal for Abraham during the winter window and retain admiration for his profile. Adding Abraham alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin would provide Daniel Farke with an imposing strike pairing, though tactically, the combination presents questions. Both players operate optimally as central focal points rather than complementary pieces, and deploying them together risks congestion in attacking areas.
Abraham's strengths, elite box movement, channel running, and physical presence, would nonetheless strengthen any side's forward line. Whether Leeds or Sunderland can convince Villa to do business at the right price remains to be seen, but the ingredients for a summer transfer are certainly present. Leeds would be incredibly lucky to get 15 goals out of Calvert-Lewin again, and with Nmecha only playing a supporting role last time out, the need for a proven goal threat will be high on Daniel Farke's agenda this summer,. especially if they can pick one up around the £20m mark.

Leeds on high alert after Magpies decide against Ramsdale deal
Leeds Utd will be on high alert after hearing that Newcastle Utd have decided not to activate the £20 million optional purchase clause of Southampton shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale. The 28‑year‑old, who joined the Magpies on a temporary basis for the 2025/26 campaign, made 23 appearances across all competitions but will return to St Mary’s after Newcastle elected not to make the deal permanent.
The decision leaves Ramsdale’s long‑term future in limbo. Southampton missed out on an immediate return to the Premier League following the fallout from the ‘Spygate’ scandal, and the club now faces the prospect of playing Championship football in 2026/27. The Saints are keen to retain a player of Ramsdale’s stature, but with the England international having amassed five senior caps and expressed a desire to remain at Premier‑League level, a summer sale appears increasingly likely. Southampton banked a substantial loan fee last summer and, according to owner Dragan Solak, will not stand in his way if a top‑flight club comes in.
“He's even personally looking at all the options of how he would go and come back if we are promoted because he loves the place and he loves the club,” Solak told the Daily Echo prior to Ramsdale’s move to Newcastle. “But generally we understand that he needs to stay within the Premier League level of football to achieve his goals and we will not stop that.”
Leeds have prioritised securing a long-term solution between the sticks this summer, seeking the stability that has eluded them in recent seasons, and Ramsdale ticks all the boxes. His combination of elite shot-stopping abilities, commanding presence inside the penalty area, comfort in playing out from the back, and vocal leadership qualities aligns precisely with what Leeds are desperate to acquire as they aim to re-establish themselves among English football's elite. The biggest question remains, do they pursue a proven English keeper keeper like Ramsdale when they can pick one up on the continent at a much cheaper price?
Saints won't want to let Ramsdale leave for much more than the £20m they were asking Newcastle for, despite them gaining a sizeable £5m loan fee from them. His £120k a week salary could be a problem for Leeds too, especially with Ethan Ampadu's new terms expected to be around this figure. The Whites were happy to pay Calvert-Lewin a seven figure weekly salary as he was a free agent, and therefor no fee payable. We also shouldn't rule out a potential swap involving Joel Piroe (rated at £12m), a proven talisman at Championship level, yet salary for the former England shot-stopper would still be an issue.
