Where has it been said they’re likely to announce a ban 1bgame into the season , or a few days before ."? Other than by rabid SR out posters on here and elsewhere, possibly by foaming and frothing indignant smoggies. How is the assertion that bans, if they are (or can be) to be applied, will be announced just before or early into next season arrived at?

Don't think anyone's saying it definitely will, just that it'd be rather typical if it did and is possible.

All we can do is hope the FA get it done this month before pre season starts.

I said it, I wasn't being serious but it was a jab at the kind of pathetic amateurism we have come to expect from the club - don't get me wrong the EFL can **** off as well, but I genuinely can't see a path to Eckert not receiving a ban and I am concerned about whether the club are developing a plan B in the event this occurs.

I am still not in a forgiving mood for the complete balls up at the end of last season and need a lot of convincing about the direction they are taking.

Mental that the very same people who were incensed the club didn't release a statement are now incensed at the contents of a statement. Deeply entrenched views that can't be shifted should not be pandered to.

The club were damned if they do or don't.

It's come a bit late but I very much enjoy that it's come from Dragan and Tonda.

Stability is the name of the game in terms of leadership across all facets of life and constant change rarely helps anyone.

If Tonda is banned from coaching and/or managing, would there be a legal loophole that would allow him to act as an independent analyst, so long as he doesn’t have direct contact with the players or set foot in the stadium or training ground?
Does an FA ban stop all involvement in the game or is it a ban from specific roles within the game?
Asking because I don’t know.

I'm not 100% but I think it'll be a working in football ban. Happy to be corrected if that's wrong.

I can see infighting at games next season sadly. There were already people with entrenched positions re the ownership and feel like this episode is going to make that worse.
Has anyone said they won't support the club?

Doesn’t your first prediction imply the second? That some people won’t support the club because anything the owners do is wrong?

Adam getting a dig in on the direction of the apology video because he's been blindsided by the statements <laugh>

I still don't like what he did but I believe him when he says that he only wanted to find out some basic facts from the spying (which makes it all the more frustrating that it risked everything).
He's apologised and explained his actions and i've accepted both, time to turn the page and strengthen our reputation where it matters most, on the pitch.

Merely doing the bare minimum isn't enough to win me over.

The only thing that can win me back onside to SR is promotion this season and surviving in the PL next.

It will take the summer to see evidence of any direction for next season, but I am concerned the club won't be adequately prepared for if the FA bans Eckert, which is very likely to happen. I don't think being skeptical at this stage is unreasonable.

From talkSPORT with Jim White and Simon Jordan just now...

White: They could've been in the Premier League by now Simon. Would you have sacked him?

Jordan: Would I have sacked him? Well they've been sanctioned, so the manager can clearly manage. What are you gonna do, double whammy yourself now? What is the point of falling upon your sword now? You've been sanctioned. I might if I felt there was a trade-off to be had with the EFL which was 'if I sack my manager, do I keep my place in the playoff final?'

But that's like pleading with a copper on the side of a road when he tells you he's going to give a speeding ticket and then he wants you to kiss his backside for five minutes. Well no, I'll kiss your backside if I'm not getting a speeding ticket, but if I am getting a speeding ticket just give me the bleeding ticket and let me go about my business. They've given the sanction, now clearly the manager can manage. Clearly the guy is a capable lad, so why would you want to have further indications of self-harm?

Solak's interview suggests that he's aware of the fact a ban for Tonda is still a possible - "he will have my support through the process. But if he's banned, he's banned. I mean, I can't put somebody to manage the club if he is not allowed."

As to what the club has in plan for that I don't know - you can't keep a prospective manager on the hook just in case.

Everything else being pushed out to the fans at the moment is biased somewhere.

The EFL will word their outputs to back up their verdicts
The club will word their outputs to back up their stance on those verdicts and the events leading to them.
The media will word their outputs to back up their agenda
The fans will word their outputs to back up their own viewpoints of the events.

None of them are fully unbiased but all are totally fine to be that way as that's just the way things are - you slant the facts to your advantage.

I think I'm one of the calmer / more optimistic fans on the board but I'm biased too.

I want the club to support the staff / players through what was a monumental cock up and rebuild where it's possible to do so. I also don't want to destroy the careers of a young and talented manager and the analysts working with him for a mistake that inherently was based on a learned working culture and a naive lack of knowledge of the EFL rules. The only item that would have made that different for me would be if there was actual evidence of work place abuse and nothing so far suggests that truly is the case.

Tonda will carry this with him going forward regardless of the pending FA action (if any) and he's willing to take that flak head on according to his / Solak's statements and prove he's worthy of that second chance to the fans.

So for me I'm in the camp of keep the current club hierarchy (but do something to fix the deficiencies) and try to move forward. I can't see how firing everyone and starting again or trying to force out the owner (who is clearly passionate and willing to keep funding the club) will do anything but worsen our position and I'm morbidly curious to see us be portrayed as the villains of the league whilst just getting on with it.
