You know what, I kind of like that Saints are going full "**** you" to the EFL and entire football world by not sacking anyone. Having said that, I hope Parsons at least offered his resignation for ****ing up so badly.

I predict lots of people will be buzzing about this right up until the point Tonda is banned and we're in panic mode.

This is a completely irrelevant point. Bad enough when fans make it let alone the owner.
We'll differ on that. The opinion of the international football community is relevant as the story spreads worldwide with the vast majority believing the punishment by far outweighs the crime.

Our son living in Indonesia is incredulous and thinks this has raised interest in the club across the parts of SE Asia he gets around. Although his mother would prefer he spent less time in sports bars gauging opinion.

Parsons staying as well.

Looks like he is still going to spend a bit then. Obviously there will be some players sold to fund this and if they can find some more gems like Scienza and Jander that would be great.

The fact it's not a rule elsewhere is completely irrelevant.

I wonder how many other EFL Clubs have been shocked at discovering Rule 127? I bet there has been some hasty deleting of recent activity to hide any incriminating evidence of making the same "mistake"!

Not many as the vast majority of the 72 would have been in the league when it was implemented and therefore voted whether or not to introduce it.

When asked why the club had failed to give an accurate version of events, Solak said: "We were requested by the EFL to respond in 12 hours, ahead of a huge game where everybody's travelling.
That's a good point, we should have been allowed 14 days to make up our pack of lies, before eventually confessing...

This from the Beeb article:-
Speaking from Slovenia, Solak added: "In Italy or in Germany, where Tonda was working, this is basically common practice that nobody cares about."
Sentiments echoed by the footy community over here in no uncertain terms.

Ah mate, but Gibbo cares!

As well all know there's not a more important, dignified or noble name in the whole of world football. Doesn’t matter what FIFA, the FA, the EFL and the rest think. Gibbo decides the punishment and they'll just have to work back from there.

You think clubs were either pro or against a legislation, voted on it either way, and then completely forgot about it?
Probably, I don't know the workings of the EFL Rule making methods, particularly an emergency vote, which this was. Since it was passed they don't appear to have revisited it or prepared any form of punishment, so they have had to make something up to create a deterrent, which I personally think in this case is over the top.

The method is they can't introduce it unilaterally and it has to be voted on by clubs.

Why would they revisit it? The majority of clubs wanted it in the first place so no need to revisit. The only reason to revisit is if clubs no longer wanted the rule.

"Ah, don't worry about it Saints fans. Yes it was a complete shambles from top to bottom, yes we got our strategy when discovered so wrong that even Gerald Ratner cringed, but hey we pinky promise no quitsies that we'll get it right this time.

Sack the people responsible? - don't be daft. We'd then have to find new ones. Who can be arsed with that! Besides in news to cheer you all up, Goetzpe are doing well and I'm sure you'll be happy to learn that Bazunu and Downs are coming back hungry to achieve. By the way season tickets are going up 15%."
