I'm prepared to give him a go. I suppose my choice could be to moan and bleat about 'cheap option' or try and dig out some family connection to the Lansdown family - but I'm underwhelmed at this point.
Let the season unfold.
My MAIN concern - as it has been since Cotts - is WHO is making the decisions around player purchases. THAT in my book is even bigger than the person in the dugout.

James Ellis will be making the decisions.

As to cheap option, I’m not to sure. Cheaper option would be an out of work manager option. We paid for Skubala to join. Him and Ellis were at Loughborough university for Futsol together. One of his previous interviews a year or two back he names dropped James Ellis as close working.

The more I read on Skubala the more I’m looking forward to seeing what him and Ellis can do.

Only thing I am guessing, will be it won’t be happening next season. We are going to be in a rebuild mode to get the correct players needed for their systems. We are stuck with a few out of contracts coming up. We’ve got no keeper at the moment. And we can only pay with what money we have keeping with in FFP (what ever the new name is, and new rules on allowances). We’ve got one of the richest owners who can’t (or any buy outs) put anymore that SL can put in.

We thought when we done the double in league one was great. His team finished 4 points more than us, undefeated in the league since November on a fraction of what we spent or budget we had.

comparing points over periods of time COTTS V SKUBY is fine on paper but realistically the opposition strength and lie of the fixtures can be a strong mitigating factor in "runs" BOTH did extremely well.

it is not always the the team that wins L1 that finishes highest in first [ only ? / season in Championship ] .. Wrexham model has a flaw! they pay out for a couple of good players [ value ] and mix with a number of "use by dates" !!!! Had they been promoted more than half their squad may not have made the cut!!!

Hull might [ will ] struggle.... COVENTRY may get into top 14 and Ipswich could end up a wild card top 8 or bottom 6......

Next 4 weeks will see teams intentions more clearly...... today all the domino's are standing........

And in what was a league full of much bigger clubs with presumably bigger budgets too such as
Cardiff, Bolton, Barnsley, Huddersfield, Plymouth, Bradford, Reading etc
What he achieved with Lincoln last season is no mean feat and I’m really looking forward with interest to what he can do down here
Up the City

I hope you’re right.
Sorry - I’m in a pessimistic mood today - probably the change in the weather affecting an old git….!!!

I’ve been a City fan long enough to get excited over (not necessarily in chronological order) -
Wilson: brilliant for Barnsley
Delboy: brilliant for St Johnstone
GJ: took us as far as the playoff final then imploded
ODriscoll: probably the most boring manager ever at AG.
Cotts: Brilliant in L1, arguably let down by the suits
LJ: boom and bust football that fizzled out after the suits bought dross and sold his best players.
Deano: out of his depth
Pearson: brilliant for Leicester, arguably let down by the suits at BS3 through lack of investment.
Manning: brilliant for Oxford in L1. Got to the playoffs largely via Hogg, before fizzling out
Struber: exciting at first then fizzled out after having his best players ripped from under him by the suits (pattern forming here…)
Hodgson: did well but was only a temporary appointment.
Now Skubala: brilliant for Lincoln in L1. Similar (better even) than Cotts was for us, but can he hack it in the 2nd tier in an environment where the suits could sell any player who stands out as having talent at any time? (within the window of course).

I feel like we are a ‘stepping stone’ club for players who are on their way to bigger and better careers.

I believe NONE of our recent managers have gone on from BS3 to manage successfully in the Premier League since GJ. Only Hodgson and Pulis ever did since Dicks - Open to correction……..

My expectations are mid table championship again….

I don’t disagree with any of your comments on our previous managers
The one thing they largely all have in common is how they weren’t backed (except for Junior to a degree) by the owner, especially on the rare occasions when we were well placed
