giving away a penalty does not automatically result in a yellow card. Whether or not you are booked depends entirely on the nature of the foul according to the IFAB Laws of the Game: [1]
  • No Card: If you commit a careless foul, or make a genuine attempt to play the ball while giving away a penalty, no card is issued. The penalty itself is considered sufficient punishment. [1, 2, 3, 4]
