I take it back I called him useless when we were leaking goals like a sieve as he'd come with a 'look after the defence' project.

A true story.
I went to Preston away this year as I have done a few times previous. Arrived at the ground an hour and a half before kick off intending to park in the "away pub" car park opposite the ground.
I arrived shortly after Tiger Travel and there was no way I could access the car park with all the city fans blocking access.

Split second decision I turned right into the official club car park. Steward asks " have you pre-booked?
"No"
"Not a problem - find a space, download the app from the QR code and pay on line"

This I did, but not without difficulty.

I noticed an elderly gentleman sat in the car next to me who seemed to be struggling.
He was sat in a an old and a little "tatty" small car (Peugeot 105, or similar.) It had certainly seen many better days.

Gentleman got out and knocked on my window.
"Have you managed to pay?"
I said "Yes, but it wasn't easy"
"I don't know if I have paid or not - don't really understand what I'm supposed to be doing"
I asked "Do you have banking on your phone - you can check if a payment has gone out"
"I don't do my banking, my daughter does it for me"
I said "Look, I've managed it, I can put your registration onto my app and pay for you then you don't need to worry about"
"Thank you - but I'll just ring my daughter and see if she can look"
10 minutes later " it's OK I seem to have paid"

I started to walk to the stadium with him and looking at his car I asked if he had come far (the car did not look capable of travelling from Hull).
"Just North of Manchester"
I immediately thought he was a Preston supporters but he said
"I do support Hull City though - my son is the assistant manager- I'm Dean Holdens Dad"
