Tonda's future at the club

Probably been said already but the severity of the punishment gets worse as the days go on. Minus 4 is a real disadvantage next year.

That said I’d keep Tonda if he avoids a ban (surely there’s been enough of a punishment already). He’d have a lot of loyalty to repay and what better motivation than getting us promoted and flipping the Vs to the EFL on the way.

Similar for Dragan. The Serbian government pissed him off before and he worked towards his revenge. Maybe he’ll do the same with the EFL.

Yeah I was thinking it would be peak Saints to keep him and we start the season terribly and he is sacked by November anyway

Starting on -4 isn't as bad as having Will Still in charge for 13 games.

Well your opinion and mine are irrelevant. Personally I think instructing junior staff to do things that are illegal (in the broad sense, this isn't criminal but it's against the rules of the competition they're in) when they've said they don't want to - even just once - is pretty ****ty behaviour, and we know from the panel decision that Salt (or someone) did more than say once he wasn't comfortable. The decision says he declined to take part in the Ipswich incident, which you can interpret in different ways. On the one hand he clearly did more than say once that he wasn't comfortable but on the other hand he wasn't forced to take part in that incident. Then he did with Boro. We don't know what changed but the most obvious explanation would be that he felt he had to. The panel decision says "We heard evidence from the intern who described the pressure he was placed under."

The EFL panel has already cited a case where staff were banned from all football for a year, described "a particularly deplorable approach" and said "junior members of staff were put under pressure to carry out activities which they felt were, at the least, morally wrong. Such staff were in a vulnerable position without job security and with limited ability to object to, or resist the instructions given to them." I think it would be very odd if the FA did nothing after this. But they aren't at the centre of a confected media ****storm so maybe they won't feel pressured into taking a similar harsh approach to the EFL.
 
I wouldn't believe the FA can ban someone on bullying - that surely would be up to our HR processes to deal with internally.

But they can, I wouldn't be surprised if they did ban him on the spying.

That said, this does cause the FA a bit of an issue as they don't have this rule in the EPL, and we are likely to argue EFL clubs being treated differently to the EPL.

In addition, considering the FA didn't tighten their rules, from what I can tell anyway, post the Bielsa incident, and he wasn't banned - then how can they justify banning Tonda.

And therefore if they do ban Tonda - then would they not need to update the rules on spying to the EPL.

Doubt they’d call it spying, just something like “bringing the game into disrepute” so they wouldn’t need to change the rules.

The bringing the game into disrepute is such a broad statement they could chuck the spying and bullying into it and say it applies.

Nothing has changed in my mind, he will get a ban. Just a question of when it’s announced
 
You get the impression that when these usually gutless football organisations not only do their job when someone like us comes along but come down heavily to show everyone they're not a soft touch.
I found an example the other day when Liverpool had accessed Man City's recruitment software over 100 times. The FA sat on it for 7 years before they decided to take no action. You just know we won't be so lucky.

I loathe football administrators. When fans say they hate the PL, the way VAR is operated, player's behaviour and how much everything costs it's all down to the governing bodies IMO. There are many areas that could be improved but if the big money clubs don't like it, it won't happen.

Cue little old, ****ing stupid, Southampton FC giving the EFL and the FA a chance to flex their muscles without affecting the golden goose. They're licking their lips at the opportunity we have handed to them. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong but after the EFL threw us out of the playoffs, I don't think the FA will be lenient either.
