Will Eddie Howe get Newcastle back into Europe

I don’t see how they can’t tbh. Top half of the table probably would have bought him a few months next season but this season has been a massive failure. Not sure I’ve seen a manager do as badly yet retain so much faith from fans, press and board before.

If he does go though he will go with all the credit due to him, he's got us back in to Europe’s top competition twice and won a cup! The only thing is he deserves a proper send off at SJP.

He has to go, so to speak. But I don’t think he will.

When we won the league cup, that was the 1st time a club like NUFC had won it, apart from the Cartel 5 ( or so I thought) for such a long time. Since we won it, we have Villa, Spurs and Crystal Palace winning cups and CP in another final. We now also have Sunderland and Brighton in Europe. Winning cups and getting into Europe doesnt seem to be that hard anymore.

This season has been an absolute disaster, warning signs were there in November with away form but even I wasn't expecting the sheer cliff edge that Eddie has taken us over. He looks absolutely bewildered and its so clear he has no idea how to turn this around.

PIF will keep faith with him and will then have to pull the trigger as St James will be toxic by November. Howe got a free ride from the fans this season, he wont get that again.

Howe has set us back 3 years - we are back to the season where Howe finished 11th in his 1st season. Wilson has to get this transfer window right but with Howe still here, I predict we will screw it up.

Tottenham will drive another nail in Howe's coffin this summer and next season I think.

I have "yielded" and said no - can't see the players giving Howe enough based on this season's efforts to do anything next year.

Honestly get Iriola or Glasner in, both have proved they've got what it takes in the 2/3 years they've been in the league to develop sides to compete on modest budgets with good styles of play, both "attainable" in that they are leaving their current clubs (may have better offers tbf) and Glasner has proved he can win/progress in competitions.

Not sure about either. This season is the first time ever, for example, that Irola has got a team above mid table

I’d go Poch, Terzic, Inzaghi, Motta, Lijnders, Hoeness, Iraola above Howe.

It’s not about stats, it’s about just seeing what’s right in front of you. But then it’s all wasted words, we’re a hive of complete inactivity.

Do we need a sister thread called ; Will Eddie get Newcastle back into the top 10. Or the little sibling thread called 'Will Eddie get Newcastle relegated in the new season'?

Nuh huh. This season is the first season in his whole managerial career that he finished in top half
On 19 June 2023, the club announced the departure of manager O'Neil, with Andoni Iraola coming in to replace him.
In the 2023–24 season, Bournemouth, led by Iraola, achieved their best points tally in the Premier League, accumulating 48 points to finish 12th.

The following season, in the 2024–25 season, Bournemouth once again broke their record Premier League points total, achieving 56 points, whilst equalling their best ever league finish of 9th in the Premier League. As well as this, the club achieved their most wins in a Premier League season (15), fewest defeats (12), most goals scored (58), and fewest goals conceded (46).

2nd time he has finished in top half.

12th 23-24
9th 24-25
6th 25-26

On 19 May 2026, Bournemouth qualified for European football for the first time in their history, after their 1–1 draw with Manchester City.
On 24 May 2026, they drew 1–1 with Nottingham Forest to confirm sixth place, the highest league finish in the club's history, which, after Manchester City lost to Aston Villa preventing the EPS from dropping down, meant Bournemouth qualified for the 2026–27 UEFA Europa League. With 57 points, the club also broke their Premier League points total for the third season running, whilst also only losing seven games, their fewest defeats in a Premier League season.
This game was also the club's eighteenth draw of the season, breaking the record for the most draws in a thirty-eight game Premier League season, and extended the club's record unbeaten run to eighteen games, having not lost in the league since a 2–3 loss hosting Arsenal on 3 January 2026.

Only getting better I think.

As I said, why people choose not to use their eyes is odd.

Some of them know they are wrong, but their ego won't allow them to concede to people they were taking the piss out of all season.

Crystal Palace, 3 cups in 2 year. 1/3 budget Howe had.

Crystal Palace bigger than NUFC?

Glasner, 3 trophies, leaves. Iraola, hugely over achieves, leaves.

Howe? Apparently amazing, nobody comes calling, dreadful season, hangs around.

Weird.
