Brilliant day all round - apart from the coach parking at Wembley. I know it's down to mega money but who thought it was a good idea to build over the car parks? It took nearly an hour to get in after passing that massive IKEA- must have been all of a mile in distance. And then waiting - like getting off a ferry! - for those coaches in front to fill up before you could leave. I reckon it was two hours from leaving the ground to seeing the first sign that said 'The North' I mean it's supposed to be our national stadium dealing with those crowds on a regular basis.

there's no way the away fans are moving - 1 safety perspective and location of coaches 2 they wont put them behind the north stand goal and have our 'kop' where the away fans are now - been there done that - even more fans having to walk all the way around the stadium to get to their cars 3. they certainly wont put them in west upper just above hospitality, directors and owners suites - Rovers fans lobbing bottles down proved that

Thought it all looked different from our last visit, didn't remember seeing all those apartments and wondered where all the coaches were parked.
Saw a couple of tt come out from the torch pub on way back to our car.

Belloumi absolutely can cross with his right foot, he’s stuck several good balls in there on the weak foot. Same with Millar.

Can’t actually recall Coyle ever attempting a left foot cross?
I recall a ton of left foot crosses from Coyle last season. Most of them went out of play after being overhit by 10 yards

If you recall the “Wemberley is the spiritual home of football, we must rebuild it in the same location” discussion, many many people (me included) were campaigning for the new National Stadium to be built next to the NEC in Brum. Tons of land for a stadium, fan zones and parking, good road network, rail station, airport for getting everyone in and out quickly. Not to mention that being more central it is within reach for more football teams.

There is a point where practicality has to win over tradition. Trying to get 70k people in and out of a place via the tube or Brent Cross/The North Circular was a bad enough idea before they built up the area even more with flats/houses and businesses

We struggle to get the KCOM bouncing and people wonder why the atmosphere at Wembley was, at times, flat.
I think it sounds different in certain areas .
I was in 212 and thought there was a good atmosphere all around .
I remember Den saying he thought Millwall where quiet,he was in North 4 I think but in upper west they sounded pretty loud

What an incredible achievement, against all the odds!

Since the inception of the current English Football League (EFL) Championship play-off system in 1989–90, only four teams have successfully finished 6th in the league table and gone on to win the play-off final to earn promotion to the Premier League.

The four clubs that accomplished this rare feat are:
  • Hull City (2025–26): The most recent side to pull it off, finishing 6th with 73 points. They defeated Millwall in the semi-finals and Middlesbrough 1–0 in the final via a dramatic 95th-minute winner from Oli McBurnie.
  • Blackpool (2009–10): Finished 6th and secured a memorable promotion under Ian Holloway by defeating Cardiff City 3–2 in a thrilling Wembley final.
  • West Ham United (2004–05): Snuck into 6th place (12 points behind 3rd-placed Ipswich) but hit form when it mattered, beating Ipswich in the semi-finals and Preston North End 1–0 in the Millennium Stadium final.
  • Crystal Palace (2003–04): Famously transformed their season under manager Iain Dowie to sneak into 6th on the final day, eventually beating West Ham 1–0 in the final.
(Note: Swindon Town won the play-off final from 6th place in the 1989–90 season, but they were ultimately denied promotion due to financial irregularities, meaning runner-up Sunderland was promoted in their place).

Interestingly those other 6th placed teams finished strongly and snuck into 6th, whereas we were fighting for top 2 until the last month or so of the season before dropping off.

Not sure who owned it before (Brent Council?) but the FA bought the stadium and they did the modernisation, getting rid of the iconic twin towers and replacing it with the arch, cost loads of money. I wonder if they either didn't think to buy the parking or bought it then sold it off.
