May as well get this started!

Going to be a poor tournament with all the additional teams and most games middle of the night but it's still the world cup so am looking forward to it.

Don't fancy England's chances much, or any north European side for that matter. Quarters best for us imo.

Quite fancy Brazil to win it tbh.

England World Cup squad

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), James Trafford (Manchester City)

Defenders: Dan Burn (Newcastle United), Marc Guehi (Manchester City), Reece James (Chelsea), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Tino Livramento (Newcastle), Nico O'Reilly (Manchester City), Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen), Djed Spence (Tottenham), John Stones (Manchester City)

Midfielders: Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Eberechi Eze (Arsenal), Jordan Henderson (Brentford), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)

Forwards: Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Noni Madueke (Arsenal), Marcus Rashford (Barcelona on loan from Manchester United), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Ivan Toney (Al-Ahli), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

I'll try and stir up some enthusiasm for this but the expanded tournament format and the presence, whether in person or not of the tangerine turd and the sycophantic brown nosing of peace prize Infantino take much off the gloss of the event.

Also what the **** is Henderson doing in the squad? This season with Brentford - Played 31, goals 1, assists 3, yellows 5, totally underwhelming.

Goals and assists never been his game in fairness but am still surprised he's going. Maybe it's an experience thing.

Very surprised Maguire isn't going though. Gibbs White too.

I absolutely love the World Cup usually, but it just feels such a mess this time around. From Infantino sucking off the orangutan, to Tuchel not picking on form it’s really got all the makings of England out in the groups & whoever’s paid off Trump in secret has won it already <laugh>

On a lighter note.. how funny would it be if England got caught spying at the World Cup

I ****ing love world cups.

Can't wait for bbq, beer and bucket hat fever to sweep the nation. Something about WC summers just hit that much sweeter and it's been 8 years since we had one.

8 years ago I had just left uni, moved in to 4 bedroom shared house with a bunch of my delinquent mates, didn't unpack and drove straight to a Belgian music festival and watched Belgium beat Brazil with 100,000 Belgians in the sun at Rock Werchter festival. What a bloody summer.

Love this!! I’ll always remember when England beat Columbia on pens, all that hoodoo lifted & it was St Paul’s Caribbean Carnival in Bristol, so 10,000s people in the streets watching the game and partying after, best atmosphere I’ve been a part of for an England game

Hoping it will be a nice distraction. But I wonder if the corruption of FIFA and Trump will leave a sour not and comparisons with Saints e.g. the fairness of Ronaldo having his red card nullified for the tournament.

Wondering if Canada and Japan might do well.

Canada got a ridiculous group so should get through with home advantage. I think Japan could go quite far.

The extended format is a shambles though, best part of 100 games to eliminate only a third of teams.

Hard to judge if you don't really follow the Prem I think. I don't know much about a fair number of those in the squad.
That's very true. When I've watched England games recently I couldn't believe the number of players I'd never heard of let alone seen playing.

What no Flynn Downes? No THB? No Bree? No Jack Stephens? No Tom Fellows? No Cameron Archer?

Not going to watch it if we aren't taking the best players.
Will Salt's been selected though, so we've got some club representation. Tuchel's German isn't he? No problem there.

Hopefully Salt will come back having learnt how to be a better spy by rubbing shoulders with spies on the international stage.

He’s come a long way and proves that any publicity is good publicity.

From domestic spy in the lower leagues to international espionage in the matter of weeks. Good luck to him.

There's a lot of potential there. It'll be good for him just to be part of the squad even if he doesn't get an assignment this time around.
Just being in the dressing room with his eyes and ears open picking up hints and tips will help his progress no end.
It not being England's dressing room might be a bit difficult to explain though.

I've got every confidence in our boy, he's already shown how to the use the surrounding cover to his advantage. That picture of him at Boro for example, I couldn't make out where he was hiding until someone else pointed him out for me. Still a bit raw but he's a natural.

Buzzing for the WC. Think we've got a great squad, particularly the attack. If the likes of Kane, Saka, Rogers and Rashford can click, then I reckon we can reach the final. Excited to see what England can do now we have a competent manager in charge.

My dark horses are the USA. They've got some very good players, and of course Poch in charge. They'll get dodgy decisions going their way in every game, and with the home crowd behind them, they will be a real force. Think they will take out one of the big boys in the quarters.

With one notable exception <whistle>
