But didn't specify the punishment if caught?
Problem is there are so many levels to it in theory. I think for what they’ve done and realistically have done beyond the matches mentioned it’s fair. Some unfortunate quotes surfacing from old interviews on how well prepared SFC players felt and their knowledge of the opposition.

But it could be worse one day or likely has been in the past somewhere without coming to light. Hidden recording of the away dressing room, emails hacked, who knows? One set punishment is never going to fit every time and will vary on the importance of the match.

Evidently not. But clubs have to sign up to the rules in order to compete in EFL competitions. Obviously Southampton miscalculated - they thought they could cheat and either get away with it or have a minuscule punishment. At any time they could have asked what the punishment would be, though that would have given the game away a bit….

Quite like that his lawyers’ honest opinion is the thing the client wants and will allow them to bill the most hours. With nothing to lose and so much cash riding on it, I get it, but it would be a ridiculous case to try and bring.

Boro are an objectively worse team than Southampton and probably missing their best player.

Seems that the authority to do it came from Eckert himself... he should be dismissed and banned for life from being involved in football.... Saints should then be deducted 2 points for every game since he became head coach as it appears to be systemic as a punishment for next season.... feck 'em

Now Millwall considering legal action

We should file a case for something, everyone else is...
I agree wholeheartedly, WBA2QPR3….

I might be halfway around the world from the tree where the cameraman stood on the grassy knoll but reverberations from the effect on our team, from being in the same competition as Southampton is deeply distressing & playing havoc with my mental health.

As we speak, the nurse is administrating the intravenous drip with this clear liquid type thingy stuff to settle my nerves.
Kick them out, l say!

The Southampton management must have been sending a guy all around the country. They just happened to admit to a few games they subsequently lost and thought they could pull the wool over every ones eyes. They cheated and possibly/probably right through the season where they could get access - they have to take their punishment now.
They knew the law change existed. They have now kindly set the punishment standard - anyone else like to follow in their footsteps?

In absolute terms, you are correct.
I would like to know if the rule specified the punishment? If so, 'it's a fair cop' as the saying goes. If not, imo, unduly harsh.

On a lighter note, I dare say there will be some interesting chants when teams play them next season!
