Well said. Talking of Henry, Henry famously cheated with the handball, which impacted the sport and competition far more than we did... remind me of his punishment?

To be fair, I will always remember Henry for his sportsmanship at Cardiff in the FA Cup final, when he could have gone down and got Claus sent off in the first ten minutes, but stayed on his feet. The referee was the only person in the stadium who didn’t see the foul, and thank God no VAR back then.

As has been stated, there are other legitimate ways of gleaning information about another teams tactics than spying. I agree that the Eastleigh case is almost as bad as the Johnny English fiasco in Middlebrough. However, from what I understand of the Whattsapp posts, our staff thought thus was amusing and all a big joke. I want to know who was monitoring them and just who else was party to these "bants" on line.

It not only feels amateur but, more significantly, is clearly disrespecting the rule. If you pop on other "national" websites, there is very little sympathy for us. I cannot understand why some here are not ashamed by what had happened. The rewards for promotion are amongst the greatest in football (and certainly English football) yet our coaches just felt it was a joke and the fact that we appeared to get away with it something that was funny.

This would never have happened on Lawrie's watch.
Just for perspective, there is all sorts of email banter that flies around in workplaces. It may be between William Salt and a few other juniors - I doubt it was circulated to the SFC - All distribution list.

With Middlesbrough selling tickets, previously bought by Saints fans, the EFL have lost the opportunity of reinstating us and making us play Middlesbrough at Wembley in a one game decider, unless everyone sits on each other’s laps.

It isn't the EFL that is on trial here, but with the mistakes and mindless decisions that they have been making, they should be banged to rights in my opinion.

It’s the genius for ****ing things up which they have shown so far, that gives me hope they might reinstate us just to continue the whole farcical business

I guess there must have been irrefutable evidence if we fessed up.

But yeah it’s been blown out of all proportion. Embarrassing but I’m not ashamed.

We all know it shouldn’t happen but it’s extreme. The decision has ultimately been made due to the timing a reluctance to delay or replay the playoffs.
We admitted to a charge we weren't presented with. It's ****ing lunacy.

That's like walking in to a court room, pleading guilty to your charge and then offering up evidence for 2 further crimes and hoping it gets you leniency.

We were **** at spying and **** at trying to mitigate the punishment.

The only thing we have excelled in during this whole debacle is incompetence.

Agree but I understand that the contents of Tonda's phone were instrumental in the panel reaching their conclusion yesterday.

The last few companies I worked had strong policies about email use. The Whatsapp comments were alleged to all be on Southampton FC phones. In my opinion, it does not say a great deal about the professional culture in the club.

We were presented with it at the weekend.

Problem is because we were already planning on admitting it all it's hard to now say we didn't have time to build a defence for the extra two instances.

What’s this (undoubtedly) superb lawyer supposed to be able to do in 20 hours?
He's a barrister so, as far as I know, his main job is to read and refine our arguments and present them to the panel in the most compelling way, not (necessarily) to find some entirely new loophole.
