The more I think about it, the more I think we have a case. Unless on appeal the first leg of Boro v Southampton is declared a 3-0 win -- and as far as we know it hasn't been -- then Boro are already knocked out, which is what Acun is saying. Therefore to reinstate Boro is clearly a wrong decision, and possibly challengeable in law. So unless the appeal does change things, and instead of 'expelling' Southampton awards Boro a 3-0 win (which in effect expels Southampton but without explicitly doing so) , then we may have a chance of getting a loss overturned. That said, we just need to win on Saturday.
I've been pondering that. The details will need to be shown, but the crime committed against Boro, Ipswich and Oxford is equal. They have effectively voided the Boro game(s) but they'll need to explain how. And then do Ipswich and Oxford retrospectively get the same treatment (say, 3-0 wins awarded)? And if, then, more cases come out then you do get into the territory of Wrexham having a genuine grievance. In not just punishing Southampton, but also rewarding Middlesbrough, the FL might have created themselves a bit of a headache.

I think city have a case, but the game will go ahead anyway.

I also understand why Southampton players might file some sort of class action against their own club..happens in the business world, so why not football - they achieved the right to play in a final and their management ****ed it up for them - lot of lost earnings and bonuses.

Either way, possibly one of the most hilarious outcomes for years.
How about they play the game, the winner goes up, but we get the prize money whatever the outcome. <cheers>

Why should he? He should kick up more of a fuss if anything. Boro wouldn't be where they are now without Gibson applying media pressure
Because he's given the game away that we have only had one day to prepare for Boro. His complaint is legit but anything about preparation should have been kept quiet, he could just as easily said that we already know everything about Middlesboro without having to spy on them and its them who should be worrying about preparing for us.

Acun (and our lawyers) surely have a very strong argument right there .... as he spells out right at the end of that clip.
The correct decision should surely be that Southampton are expelled from the competition and we effectively therefore get a bye. But money has spoken, meaning the EFL bottled it as they didn't want to cancel the final.
All basically as I said from the start btw :emoticon-0105-wink:
Surely the only way out of it now for the EFL is for them to during the appeal process change their decision from simply expelling Southampton to instead specifically awarding the semi final win to Boro by e.g. awarding a 3-0 win for the 1st leg or some other get out (not simply expelling Southampton).
Aaaannnndddd so it goes on.

I find it fascinating, but not hilarious. It's sucked the joy out of the final. Hopefully that returns once this stupid appeal is over.
Ah, you're a purist, TM.

I think the controversy adds more drama and will make the game more contested, with many more paying a greater interest. My (ex)wife's not in good shape at the moment, so I have had to miss flying over for the game unfortunately and will watch on TV, but all this chaos is making me look forward to it even more. Certainly is one of the most discussed play-off games in years and all the hot takes are interesting.. it's not been boring being a city fan the last 20 years.

He's deliberately exagerating our case, that's all.
In reality, Dublin and gang, and therefore Serge, will have known there was a clear possibility that Southampton would get booted out and prepared accordingly.
It is though still fair of him to say that we've only had one day to prepare fully for Boro and Boro alone. And that does put us at an unfair advantage when we're the 100% innocent party in all this.

oops, yep, best delete it quick!!
I guess they'll more likely already be aware of Acun's interview, or at least his argument from other more official, higher ranking, higher profile sources than me as a random ( door open ) poster on non 606 :emoticon-0105-wink:

Here's hoping she makes a full recovery.
Think how much all the extra publicity would have cost if they had to pay for it.

My son was at a match a couple of days ago that was abandoned due to too much smoke and fire from flares in the stand and coming over the playing pitch.. he was angry as his team were winning 2-1 in a local derby. In Sweden, not turkey though...
If we are 2-1 up don’t want any flares going off

Talking of preparing to face Boro...

I'm absolutely shocked to find we're 3/1 outsiders for this and as the old saying goes...Never look a gift horse in the mouth :emoticon-0148-yes:

5/6 they are.

Traditionally we win these games 1-0 and the goalscorer starts, 100% record, so we should start our best goalscorers and Joffy scores more than Belloumi so I'd start Joffy.
Using your interpretation of your argument we should start our 11 best goalscorers!
I think your argument says we should start our best goalscorer (singular) - McBurnie
In 2015-2016 Hernandez was our best goalscorer not Diame anyway
