I imagine that the EFL are quite relieved that the other two clubs were Ipswich and Oxford. Neither of them will seek any sort of financial compensation, one assumes.

If it had been Millwall or Wrexham (or maybe even Derby), that would have been another can of worms.

I dread to think how many players will leave us, one way or another, this summer now.
Seems a little too convenient to me.
You’d imagine if they did it three times they probably did it every time they could do, and yet the only other ones ‘proven’ are the ones that there was no real advantage from so those clubs won’t pursue anything (Ipswich up anyway and you lost to Oxford)

As usual it’s the fans ****ed over, and I do have a lot of sympathy for you.
I know it’s nothing compared to what you’ll be going through, but just to ensure fans keep getting shat on them saying in their statement they might change the kick off time means no Boro fans can arrange travel tonight and many of us Hull City fans that have booked travel won’t know whether they’ll get there in time or catch the train back either.
Fiasco.

If they don’t want to sell then there’s not much that can happen. Boycotts and hitting them in their pocket is an obvious step the fanbase can take but that’s not going to happen until next season at least, and even then it might not make them sell
Yeah fair enough, I’m just not sure they will survive this.

Hopefully people will vote with their feet.

On season tickets, game attendance merchandise etc

That makes no sense. Either the entire appeal is rejected or we're reinstated IMO.

The appeal is about the severity of the punishment, not that we are guilty. If they take away/reduce the points deduction then that makes the severity of the punishment less even if we don’t get reinstated

We are essentially being given a potential £200 million fine for filming some training sessions. It would be one of the biggest punishments in footballing history. I don't care if they sack Tonda and the staff tomorrow and we play at Wembley with the cleaner in charge, the punishment isn't proportional.

Didn’t realise you’d won the playoff final!

I guess they could argue that for the first leg, but not for the second leg?
It's two legged but it's a single tie, if we cheated for the first leg then we cheated for the entire tie essentially.

Not to mention the fact we admitted to doing it during regular season too.

Well, what a bizarre, embarrassing and shamefull outcome. Does the punishment fit the crime? Maybe. Multiple counts admitted means even more that couldn’t be proven. Saying that we have been fined 200m is not correct, we’ve been kicked out of the playoffs and will miss one game, that’s the only guarantee. 4 points is the actual punishment.

What a ridiculous farce from the club.

Wow what an overreaction by the EFL, I’m amazed, they’ve obviously hit you with a punishment so strong that it will mean nobody ever does it again that’s for sure.

I just don’t get what can be gained watching and filming from distance on a phone over watching previous games and analysing 90 minutes of a game.

I’m a bit surprised so many Southampton fans are turning on the coach, he broke the rules, many others will have, he just got caught but I don’t get why it’s illegal.

What’s to say someone can’t watch from distance and report what they witnessed, it must happen all the time.

They should have counted the 2nd leg as 0-0 and replayed the first leg. If you lost hit you with -5 points next season, if you went up, huge fine

It might galvanise you next season when the dust has settled.

They will. The noddy melts which make up most of our fan base will whine a little bit online and then do **** all in the stadium. They'll still have nice tame questions thrown gently at them by Blackmore and House, and then make sure there's lots of nice posts about the women's team.

Sport Republic are a cancer on this club
And to think we were glad for Gao to sell
